Hey there, friends and followers of mine, as well as you randos who just clicked on this page. Yes, I see you there, and I don't mind.
Heck, I made this blog post so that people can get to know me more, so you're in the right place. (It gets more interesting after my random things that I like, but I'd still like you to read those, please.)
And RainbowDash2012 says to tell you that I, Tape Deck, am AWESOME. Fine by me.
Basic Personal Info:
- I live somewhere in the Little Egypt area of Southern Illinois.
- I'm a guy.
- My birthday is in the first half of July.
- I'm active responding to notifications a few random times throughout the day, and I do the same (and read) anywhere from 8-11:00 at night. I'm on here every day.
- I used to read a lot for fun, but my interest waned a bit. After finding this site, I now read more than I ever have.
- I will probably try to write more in the future, but reading (and messaging others) is really what I'm on this site for.
- I change my profile picture every single day, but my cringe pony maker OC is always present somewhere on it.
I have never posed as Carrot Top, and I will never again.- And that's really all I care to share.

What I Read On FIMfiction:
Literally pretty much anything, though I staunchly avoid the Porn, Sex, and Fetish tags.
I'm not too keen on the Suicide/Self-Harm or Anthro ones either, but I'm sure there's good exceptions out there.
I don't read Romance, with some exceptions.
I'm warming up to Anon.
I do quite enjoy myself a longer fic, but I read enough one-shots.
How I Got Into The Fandom:
A younger female relative of mine was watching some sort of MLP toy video, and though I had seen others before, there was one with Shining Armor that intrigued me. A male pony character? Better look that up.
And since I was a former Bluey fan, I had experience with Fandom WIkis, so I was able to navigate the MLP one easily. I think some of the character descriptions interested me.
Shortly afterwards, I remembered that someone I knew (female, not a girlfriend or a MLP fan) had a Transformers crossover comic, so I discreetly borrowed it and enjoyed it.
And then I found the show on YouTube, and later a website where it was easier to watch, and binged the episodes through to the first third or half of S9 from around March to July or August 2023.
How I Found Out About FIMfiction:
I'm not even a big fan of The Big Bang Theory, but for some reason one day in August '23, I looked up in Google if it had anything in relation to MLP.
I found this fic:

I think other fics were recommend to me below it, so I started reading one of those, and then another one, and then another one, and then anot...you get the idea.
I went from HTML file reader, to lurker on the actual site, to obtaining an account on March 2/3, to having interactions with others because of Pseudobob Delightus's April Fool's fic:

And now more recently, thanks to some site drama and RainbowDash2012, the amount I spend time interacting with others on this site has exploded.

Illinois, huh? Cool! You know, they hold an MLP convention up in Chicago called Whinny City Con. I’ve heard from some friends who go there that it’s real fun. Maybe someday you can go there too, if I you haven’t already. :)
I’m also pretty much the exact same way with what I read on Fimfiction, except that I do enjoy a short and sweet romance story from time to time because they can be cute. Usually though, I stick with longer adventure stories (be they dark or wholesome, or a blend of both).

And no I love it. I’m a notification addict too and I love talking to you and others if you’ve directed my way lately. But I also just like to be considerate and I want to be sure you don’t mind the extra attention too. I know for a fact the things we sometimes talk about and/or the ridiculous amount of notifications and walls of texts I give you sometimes just would be offensive or off/putting to some people. People on this site well in the past have definitely been annoyed by wall of texts especially, just look at how long some of my ancient blogs are. For whatever reason I just enjoy explaining things in detail and I just tend to be verbose. I’ve literally been criticized for that in the past by a few people here.
