Geez, you wait months for one fic, and then two turn up at once. But seriously: YEEHAW! I am so stoked right now!
Blog Number 238: The Walking Diamond Edition
Truth be told, both of these fics have been in development for a while, ever since I saw the announcement last month for the Imposing Sovereigns contest. Cry, Wolf I finished first, originally intending to publish it for Hallowe'en until real life got in the way. Diamond of the Dead I came up with earlier this November, and by comparison it progressed much more smoothly.
Both were part of a larger self-imposed challenge I wanted to try. In fact, I hadn't originally planned on two horror-tagged teenage stories for the contest, which is a bit out of my usual range. It was just that, of all the ideas I'd toyed with for the contest, these two happened to be the ones that survived the gauntlet and made it all the way. Blame Hallowe'en, maybe?
Still, I'm pleased as punch. Gosh, it feels good to fire on all cylinders! 🔥
Which is why...
As it happens, I've got a few days left before the contest deadline hits at the end of the week. And I've got plenty of fuel left for the race, so why not? What I'm going to do next is try for a third entry. See if I can push myself that little bit further.
It might not work out; I'm aware of how slim my chances are, especially given the busy-ness of real life lately. I just wanna see how fast I can run. It's been a long time since I enjoyed getting fics done, you know?
Try for a trifecta? Oh, yeah. Let's DO this! 😈

The picture looks nice, too. It's beginner's quality, but it's good beginner's quality with potential for growth. And especially considering that you had to draw this picture without a tablet makes it very good. Digital drawings done without a tablet require a lot of cleaning up and having that patience is an extra task. It looks very good for a mouse-drawn picture and the cleanliness of the lines comes rather close to a tablet drawing.

I somehow got it into my head that you wouldn't be interested in that kind of thing, but that's what I get for jumping to conclusions. Still, I would like to write a more typical Diamond Tiara fic someday.
As for the pic, well, it is what it is. I might go back to using screenshots if the fic concepts of the future are less "out there", but we'll see.
