Twilight sparkle is a very important pony
She has important royal duties: traveling around the world meeting with ambassadors from other nations, giving addresses, making decisions...She also has her friends.
Some things are more important than other things.

Rainbow Dash has watched herself and her friends grow, succeed, achieve everything they'd ever hoped to achieve. A successful farm, a career as a widely recognized designer, a career in the Wonderbolts, a way to care for even more animals, a beautiful family, a crown.
Sure they don't see each other as often, but the fact that they've achieved their dreams is the most important thing...right?

The filly must have been only a little older than Applebloom and her friends, but the smile she wore was starkly out of place on her youthful features. It was much too knowing, much too smug, much too jaded and cold to belong on someone that young.
"You'd be surprised what you can find by looking up pony in a blue box" she said cooly "I understand more about you than you know....Doctor

When Twilight, beset by a cold, asks the Doctor to get her some soup, she didn't expect any crazy adventures. She certainly doesn't expect to be stranded in the wrong time, chasing after a loose-cannon filly with the potential to irrevocably change time, and absolutely no qualms about breaking the rules.
In retrospect, the soup probably wasn't worth the trouble.

Twilight had several analogies she liked to use to describe the difficulty of saying no to rarity, her favorite of which was "Imagine trying to flag down a train in the middle of the night while painted black...by jumping in front of it"

One peaceful spa trip with your friends isn't too much to ask, right?
Not when you're Twilight Sparkle......and definitely not when you're the Doctor's newest companion.
So when Zecora finds what appears to be a parisprite in the Everfree forest, but is actually something much, much worse, they have to race to make sure these parasitic creatures don't destroy Ponyville, or Equestria......or the world.
But of course nothing is that simple...... Twilight desperately wants to keep her friends out of the line of danger, but with Rarity playing matchmaker, Rainbow Dash playing spy, and Pinkie Pie being, well....Pinkie Pie, it's going to be a harder task than she thought.

The left wall of Sugarcube corner had been nearly completely demolished by the box, and it was a testament to the skill of the earth-ponies who had constructed the building that it was still standing at all. She shook her head and went to examine the words at the top of the thing that had caused all the havoc.
"Police public call box" she murmured softly, eyes almost glowing with curiosity

Twilight Sparkle is planning on having a relaxing day, but that all changes when a blue police box crashes into Sugarcube corner. Now Twilight, Pinkie, and a strange stallion named the Doctor have to try to save Equestria from a threat disguised as their own beloved ruler.
