What do you do when you wake up in an unknown city, as an unknown creature? What do you do when said city is undergoing an unnatural disaster? Neil chose to live off the streets, hidden, while gathering information. But how long can he remain hidden?
11709205 11699890 Well, there's no need to look forward anymore. It's out! O.o
11710759 Luna's watchful, but just like the night of his capture his dreams are wierdly half-formed. She can only catch glimpses from the outside, so to speak at the moment. However, when the Tantabus is added to the equation? Or when she's forced to construct the dream for him? It all depends on how Non-Con that Tantabussy wants to get. That's going to be a tightrope walk I'm dreading.
11713316 feel like he is gonna get mad when he sees cadence use her magic to "help" ponys as other storys have it so she pretty much is resolving arguments by messing with their minds
Princess Celestia sat on her throne, looking as regal as she always did while watching over the retreating forms of her little ponies. Once all three of them were through the curtains, she gave a nearly imperceptible sigh and whispered to herself, " Perhaps in a decade or two, if you've forgiven me by then. "
He's angry I get it, I'd be angry too but Celestia doesn't deserve this, please fix their relationship author!
The only things that sucks is that this story can't be updated more than once a month, but I understand. It takes time, and real life problems and things take precedence
This is definitely an awesome story. Consider it both liked and favorited.
I'm really hoping that Neil is able to escape from Canterlot before Celestia reveals that he is an alicorn to the public. And to be honest, with how Celestia is forcing all of this on him. My biggest hope for this story is that if Neil escapes. He somehow builds a kingdom of his own and eventually goes to war with Equestria.
Well Neil is getting closer to his escape, he only need to keep his cool and keep practicing, then wait for Bulk to take him out to drink something wait a moment for when the coast is clear, make a mad dash and then just keep running, to either the train station or back to his actual home.
His freedom is so close!
Oh right, Big Brother Luna, and training from hell Dash. Ok he needs to be patience and learn enough so they can leave him alone, then take the opportunity to leave and run as far away from all that madness as possible.
Maybe fly a little at night so nobody see him until he find a cozy cave to live in.
P.S: Did...did Celestia just consider been mounted by him in 10 years?
P.P.S : Congratulation on your 1000 likes, you never forget when your story reach it first 1k
P.P.P.S : Can't wait for the next mount to see what happens next, or if you would make a Halloween special, if you are open to ideas two words. Uncontrollable dream magic, make his magic start acting out and turn his dreams into reality...and he is particularly fan of Blood Born games
11713409 Celestia is giving him no say in the matter and is subtly manipulating him to fit the role she's made for him. So yes, I think he should escape and gather everyone else who's sick of her machinations and show her what happens when you act like you always know what's best for everyone and that the beings you manipulate will eventually just accept the roles you've assigned them.
If RoshiRat has something less violent planned for Celestia to realize she's in the wrong here I can't to see how it plays out. I just think that someone as long lived and set in her ways as Celestia needs a more aggressive approach for Neil to make her see he's not a piece on her chessboard.
11713424 Now then guys, there is no need to go into the nuclear option, I don't think neither of them want to resort to war. Celestia because she hate them, Neil probably don't like it either and he is kind of scared of what they can do with his mind.
I agree Celestia needs to be take down a notch but you can't forget she is also trying different approaches and is not been THAT aggressive. She gave him space, allow him to explore the castle, and over all this is just her trying to help on his recovery, with a lesson that I may remind you, if he learns, she is basically giving him another way to leave the place whenever he likes.
Sure he is still a prisoner, but even he has to admit that she has been trying to meet him half way. There are baby steps of course, but she is trying none the less.
11713424 If Celestia is manipulating him seemingly without any second thoughts. Would it be hard to believe that she's possibly driven other kingdoms and species to near ruin because they don't fit into her vision?
11713435 That's a damn big escalation right out of nowhere, Celestia is not evil, at least not according to what we were shown here.
She has over a thousand years of experience and although this might seem like I'm defending her I have to say it that most of the times, in a realistic world, she'd know better.
Let's not forgwt she wielded the Elements of harmony and although she could have passed through a 'Villain Arc' it is unrealistic to continue thinking so considering she can just throw the sun at her enemies.
Is she was evil, she wouldn't have enemies.
She's also a Mare, a Woman, a Lonley woman, Neil represents an opportunity for a true family, she wants him to have a happy life, even IF he has to pass through unhappy moments.
From what we were shown, at least in her vision she believes she is doing the right thing, there is NO malice behind her actions, a war would be a insane and completely unnecessary escalation.
This is My Little Pony even if AU they have a friendship Nuke, The spirit of Harmony, a CONCEPT insanely strong just by virtue of its nature.
Words can work much better than swords here, stubborn or not Celestia will hear the words from her friends/family and if Neil does the right thing he will be able to become a close friend of hers, which I hope will happen.
Celestia is a damaged Mare no matter where you look at her, 1000 years without family, probably no close relationships, having to see an uncountable amount of creatures die of old age, unable to start a family without ending it in heartbreak.
Neil is in many ways what celestia always wanted if my theory is correct, a Stallion to form a permanent Family with that time won't be able to destroy.
A friend that doesn't see her as a Princess.
The chance for her to have a child.
Try to see her perspective here, she may not be right but she has her reasons, and none of them are evil by any means.
PS: DM me if you want to discuss this the comment section isn't a chat room, let's have pity on the author.
11713434 The biggest thing that bothers me is how Celestia is so dead set on making Neil a prince despite him completely refusing the position. That's what makes me think that she has something less than noble planned if she's so unwilling to accept his answer.
11713449 Ok that is half true, I will give her an opportunity with what she said of "out of her hooves" and it more of a situation of society and not her. Who is to say nobles or even other countries are just accepting he is a prince just because? So yeah she is kind of forcing it on him but in a way she may be trying to help him avoid been a pawn for someone else.
I will wait and see her intention and why she is so adamant on making him a prince.
Plus if he becomes a prince, can't he just use his new found power and declare that he will step down from the throne right away? Celestia and Luna did that at the season finale, and he has no power or need to hand anything to anyone so...yeah what is stopping him from playing that card?
I partially agree. The protagonist is being the antagonist. But he's also being a collosal idiot. Even Neil should know that you "don't bite the hand that feeds you." I can't fathom any other reasons why he can't be a little more accommodating to the people/ponies that are obviously trying to help him other than being blinded by deep-seated rage, or just sheer stupidity. I think he'll eventually figure out how lucky is to be looked after by the Princesses. Till then, I've got my popcorn and I'm enjoying the slow-moving foul-mouthed train wreck that is Neil.
Also, I enjoyed this humorous foreshadowing...
if this is another noble trying to get a Wonderbolt to teach their foal how to fly, I'm gonna buck them off a cloud."
I can't wait for this to happen to Neil... unless he starts to wise up.
I'm also looking forward to more Neil/Luna interactions. He is so pissed off at her that he didn't even refer her by name!
11713450 I can totally see Neil doing that and that would definitely be fun to watch. The only problem is that his identity would still be revealed to the public and unless he has an escape plan ready when he "steps down". Every mare in Equestria will be after his ass with all the enthusiasm of a swarm of starving piranhas.
You have a incredible talent for character construction and manipulation. My only critique is the sexualizations; it seems to be happening quite a lot, and pulls away from the personality you're trying to write for Neil. Him struggling with his displacement and his involuntary confinement builds exactly what you want, but it keeps seeming like he's "just getting pissy" about the context of naked horse land. It's my own personal preference as far as sexualizing cute pastel ponies go, so my own preference might be confusing my comprehension; but if you haven't already, try having the sexualized portions of dialogue and scene-making work backwards into his character, and be slightly more self contained, see how you like it.
And that's barely even a critique! Everything here is fantastic, pristine spelling and complex grammar, and it's always a joy to get to read on room descriptions and realistic movement for your characters, (I like that part a lot.)
I'm happy we got some time seeing things from Bulk's perspective. Got some good cultural clues there, such as reaction to Neil's cursing being a wider culture thing and not just a prissy city ponies thing. The shock at Luna's spell plus his mention of becoming a guard against his mother's wishes helps reinforce that while Equestria may have once resembled some of the more hardcore RGRE type fics, that's not what it (mostly) is anymore. Overall, its good to know that Bulk earnestly wants to help Neil.
Not too much to comment on the latest Celestia meeting. I suspect I'll get a better feel for her actions and behavior once we see what the balance of power is between her and the nobility.
I'm also liking the interactions between Neil and Rainbow Dash so far. Bulk being best boy, Rainbow showing complete knowledge of how flight works at all levels even as she can't remember egghead muscle names :P I have a suspicion or two about how often we'll being seeing Rainbow what with her being a Wonderbolt and a member of the military/guard by extension.
Now that you've pulled in one of the elements, I can't wait to see how his interactions with the others will go. I can make an educated guess as to which ones we'll likely be seeing next, but even if that meeting is several chapters away I can't wait to read the next one!
11713447 In reality it doesn't matter if her actions have no malice, because what matters is Neil's perception of her and this entire world as a whole.
Right now Neil doesn't trust anything or anyone and he responds to that with aggression, that's his personality.
When it comes to Equis, he doesn't know much about this world, all he really knows is that he's not home and his body has been forcefully altered.
When it comes to ponies, mares treat him like a piece of meat and fragile at the same time, stallions he's met are guards that treat him like an annoyance and a threat meant to be contained, and only respond with half truths and are wholly antagonistic to him because of what the captain of the guard said.
And when it comes to Celestia he doesn't see a motherly figure trying to help a pool little stallion. He sees a warden who has taken him prisoner and put him in a cage, no matter how gilded that cage may be. He sees an powerful old Queen who has had over a millennium to master the act of manipulation and control who wants to use him as a prince, (who takes his cape to force him to do what she wants even if he said no). He sees a god who has enough power to move an entire sun.
He doesn't trust anyone and to his perspective he doesn't have a reason to.
I don't agree with KnightOfZaku with the whole "make a new nation and go to war" thing, but his aggression is quite understandable in my opinion.
A solid chapter. Bulk is the goodest of lads. And I enjoyed seeing Dash show off her knowledge in her own RD way.
At this point I'm just hoping that he one day soon manages to pop his head out of the seething haze of rage he has rolling around in it, maybe start being less of an ass towards anything that breathes.
My guess is that Celestia, knowing how an alicorn body works, is doing what must be done, even if she has to be a lion and kick his grumpy ass off of a cliff so he can climb back up even stronger than before.
Personal theory time! Seeing that with how harmonious ponies are, an alicorn most likely needs inner harmony between all three tribal aspects, otherwise it will be bad for their bodies later down the line. So far he has mastered none of them, but Celestia thinks he was an Earth Pony before ascension and thus only needs to master the Pegasus and Unicorn aspects, so when his lack of EP mastery fucks him over, she will finally put two and two together and figure out that he was never a pony.
Also, now that Luna won't be casting spells against his swearing, will she instead carry a box filled with soap bars with her, so she can just TP one into his mouth whenever he swears like a drunken sailor with anger issues?
11713574 I really should've explained that better in my original comment.
My thought was that if he did form a kingdom made up of beings with a grudge against Celestia. Him also being an alicorn would cause some of his new subjects deify him and he'd end up in a situation similar to Ainz from "Overlord". A position he never wanted but due to various factors found himself in before he realized it.
This could've resulted with a war breaking out between a combination of past grudges of his new subjects, misassumptions on both sides, and the possibility Neil was still harboring animosity for Equestria after they tried to manipulate him.
I have a habbit of making up a scenario of how I think a story could go while I'm reading it and when I'm writing my review I sometimes forget to include the context and reasoning for what I say.
kinda want misunderstanding to happen when this get recounted to the other girls especially rarity assuming the worse thinking they did it i cant believe rainbow dash did it with a prince before me wait IT NOT REALLY tha... neil: well her ministrations did get me hard and she offered more gasp : OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WAIT NO THAT NOT TRUE, WELL I GUESS IT IS BUT NOT WHAT HAPPENED
on a more serious note, celestia has not learned her lesson, this is the same mindset that led to Luna becoming nightmare moon and sunset running through the mirror
11713590 not likely more he escape and a great chase will happen that lead to some massive disaster with the villain of the month, since he wants nothing to do with being a prince
Thanks again RoshiRat for another awesome chapter. This chapter was a very smooth read with excellent structure and grammar which made the events of the chapter flowed very well. I also really enjoyed the alternate point of view with Bulk at the beginning of the chapter to get an outside perspective/opinion of Neil from a guard stallion's view from this RGRE universe. I hope we see more POV inserts like this in future chapters. I am excited to see how this story develops in the future and wish you all the best of luck with writing your next chapter. Cheers!
11713324 The way I see it, there’s exactly one way she might be right in needing to apologize...and that would be if it turned out in future chapters that she was somehow responsible for bringing him to Equestria in the first place against his will, no matter whether on purpose or by some sort of accident. Because if it’s not that, then whatever her views of her future romantic prospects might be, she’s not actually done anything wrong thus far and it’s more Neil who by this point has me basically questioning how, indeed possibly even if, he’s actually managed to function in human society before. What sort of hobbies did he have -- prepping his bunker for the zombie apocalypse just in case?
11713620 she very in the wrong instead of offering him friendship and the help to attempt to find a way to return home, she forced him to be a prisoner under her control, decreed he going to be a prince, without asking him, and everything she done from assigning him a guard, to giving him a education, is all to making him useful asset to equestria and chain him down through obligations regardless of what he wants, he effectively a slave in a gilded cage, at least Luna was honest with how she see him in the hierarchy, he was better off homeless at least he had the ability to choose then
I don’t fully understand why he went through with the lesson after being so adamant against it. Bulk wasn’t exceptionally convincing except that he didn’t want them to fight. MC knows he’s a valuable asset to Equestria, so why make his imprisonment easier on his captors? If his dad was a pilot, then he surely would have heard about the SERE school?
I’d have required them bring me in irons for refusing the summons. Celestia seems to understand that she’ll be wearing him down over decades.

Well, there's no need to look forward anymore. It's out! O.o
11710759
Luna's watchful, but just like the night of his capture his dreams are wierdly half-formed. She can only catch glimpses from the outside, so to speak at the moment. However, when the Tantabus is added to the equation? Or when she's forced to construct the dream for him? It all depends on how Non-Con that Tantabussy wants to get. That's going to be a tightrope walk I'm dreading.

It's a great chapter!
Cannot wait for more!! I am very curious to see just how mad Neil gets at the princesses, especially love

I hope so too, but I don't think that will happen for a while

Nice chapter. But this guy this wants to fight for no reason.

...No, like, what the fuck
Special Tactics and Rescue Service? Is this actually a crossover story? That'd be an interesting twist.
11713409
Celestia is giving him no say in the matter and is subtly manipulating him to fit the role she's made for him. Yes actually.
And the idea of war as payback is overwhelmingly stupid considering how many lives can be ruined by it.

Jeez, I must congratulate you. Your main character is so unlikeable that it's officially driven me to stop reading this otherwise fascinating story!
11713450
I can totally see Neil doing that and that would definitely be fun to watch. All I can do is make the chef's kiss gesture.
Another great chapter!
Bulk being best boy, Rainbow showing complete knowledge of how flight works at all levels even as she can't remember egghead muscle names :P

Good but, Apparently some... 4 maybe more? People want war.
Amazing chapter, have some congratulatory cheese.
11713531
It doesn't even make sense for him to do so.
he doesn't want to deal with these ponies at all he just wants to go home
When he thought about how his dad was a STARS pilot, I immediately thought he was from a Resident Evil world.
A solid chapter.
Bulk is the goodest of lads.
And I enjoyed seeing Dash show off her knowledge in her own RD way.

I really should've explained that better in my original comment.

Agreed with the harmony for alicorns.
That will be interesting to see him develop
kinda want misunderstanding to happen when this get recounted to the other girls especially rarity assuming the worse thinking they did it
i cant believe rainbow dash did it with a prince before me
wait IT NOT REALLY tha...
neil: well her ministrations did get me hard and she offered more
gasp
: OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
WAIT NO THAT NOT TRUE, WELL I GUESS IT IS BUT NOT WHAT HAPPENED
on a more serious note, celestia has not learned her lesson, this is the same mindset that led to Luna becoming nightmare moon and sunset running through the mirror

not likely more he escape and a great chase will happen that lead to some massive disaster with the villain of the month, since he wants nothing to do with being a prince

whats wrong with having an angry antagonist as the main character, i like it allot, im tired of overly nice protagonists.
Cheers!

The way I see it, there’s exactly one way she might be right in needing to apologize...and that would be if it turned out in future chapters that she was somehow responsible for bringing him to Equestria in the first place against his will, no matter whether on purpose or by some sort of accident.
Me I wuld of jumped dame it all

she very in the wrong instead of offering him friendship and the help to attempt to find a way to return home, she forced him to be a prisoner under her control, decreed he going to be a prince, without asking him, and everything she done from assigning him a guard, to giving him a education, is all to making him useful asset to equestria and chain him down through obligations regardless of what he wants, he effectively a slave in a gilded cage, at least Luna was honest with how she see him in the hierarchy, he was better off homeless at least he had the ability to choose then

No. He just want3d to be left alone and the refused to do so. So guess what. They deserve all the hostility they are getting.
Resist, Neil. Resist! I believe in you!!
