If there is going to be a custody battle for spike, between Velvet Nightlight and cadence, I know ember is going to put a quick stop to it. Velvet and Nightlight are going object. But since spike isn't a legal citizen she can take spike even if he is just consider a ponies property

Cadence would rather spike be with anyone who can care for him properly and care about him. Now I don't know if Cadence can fulfill the first thing but she can do the second and I doubt she would choose to remain ignorant in how to care for spike.

Unless someone decides enough is enough and attempt to have Equestria go through a revolution, with the goal of abolishing the monarchy and creating a new kind of government, one that can focus more on doing the best they can on living their lives the way they want and less on being biased and prejudiced even for the sake of it.
In that way, Celestia might end up retiring, just not in the way she expected.
