Missed a prime chance for a "backup school" joke right here.
Largest bomber crews ever. Some bombers had a crew of 10. WW2 crews had a tail gunner. These days, almost all planes are shot down by ground fire & the USAF eliminated the position as not cost effective. Historically, some tail gunners shot down enough planes to qualify as aces (5+). The record is 17.
The USAF had a policy of letting crews rotate out of flying combat after a certain number of missions (25?).
US Army also did some studies on PTSD. They concluded that it was absolutely unavoidable for combat troops not to be destroyed. Those not physically rendered noncombat capable would have to be psych discharged. Combat effectiveness drops sharply after just 30 days nonstop combat.
