Damn that was an impressive chapter! Absolutely brutal fighting for control of Westkeep. Kind of feels like this is the Aquilleans Verdun. How much longer can they hold out in the face of such ferocious fighting and dying as the Empire keeps slowly marching onward I wonder? Cyril showing us that even if you blow his panzer out from under him he can still fight, impressive.
I’m thinking Cyril is pretty close to completely cracking, even if he is still strong now.
Another great chapter. I am actually surprised Cyril wasn't captured, and boy is he close to cracking. Also, in some earlier chapters, it was nice to see some grammatically correct Finnish.
And you convey the hellish tone of war so well, that I have had to take mental health breaks from reading. So I give you a thumbs up while suffering. 👍
Cyril out here turning into sugimoto from golden kamuy
I don’t remember if this has happened, but it would be interesting to see the perspective of Paiges Parents for a little bit.
We’ve read about them through the letters but not following them.
Simce they’re in The griffonia empire now (or not in the riverlands based on what i remeber, it’d be interesting to see how their lives are there compared to Cyrils mom (i think mom, it’s been awhile since i read her volunteer perspective stuff.)
Reminds me of an old Humor In The Uniform (Reader's Digest)
The US Army has a policy of trying to fit military position to civilian occupation (reduces training costs). Recruits were bitching that the Army had violated that policy by assigning them combat jobs.
Their Drill Instructor told them "There's a war going on. What the Army mostly needs is people trained to kill people. You wouldn't believe how few people are willing to admit that's what they did for a living as civilians. "
