I'm guessing that this is because Kudzu renders Dim and his kin as real people. Darling's not just some S&M incest fantasy; she's a misguided child who has been abused to bring about the ends of other, crueller Ponies. Regardless of why it happened, she loves Dim, and that makes it all the worse when he abuses her in part to take revenge upon the family. And even though Dim violently resisted it, he loves her too -- how could he not, on some level?
Both of them are better Ponies than are the ones who manipulated them into that situation.
8107226 'Tis one of the many traits of kudu's writing I love; he writes in such a way that one like myself, who becomes the character being portrayed whilst reading/playing/listening, can really feel the emotions described. Consequently, it also forces me to take hours to finish a single chapter, because I have to step away from the story to not actually become pissed, lol...
Maybe in modern usage, but a long time ago, Oi, hoi, and eh were common starters and attention getters. Plus, the usual British standard of starting every sentence with an apology.
8107899 Actually I kinda AM a brit XD northumbrian ta be precise, Oi was impolite greeting (Oi you) Haew was and still is in this region a common greeting (Haew Marra how gans it). But then again most southerners just get confused by how pityakkas talk :p . English language is a weird thing sometimes. and, Wey Aye (wye aye) is an old staple that I use a lot when expressing disbelief or excitement. XD. Just for the record Oi only gets used when ya initially wanna get their attention, once ya have it even if they're ya marra ya don't keep using it, too familiar and too often used ta pick a fight XD
8108854 nowt wrong with remembering those days, course over here those were the years of the riots XD and maggie the hatchet thatcher *shudders* probably WHY we have a fragtonne of rebellious punk music from then :p
In other news: crippled child goes on drug addled rampage, battles necromancer, claims princess is a location, masturbates into creek before passing out in hedge outside pastry shop.
Next, the weather.
Also question. Does the dark spire have a "anti-dream looking" charm on it to prevent Luna from seeing the depravity in there? Or do they simply make it so everyone simply only dream of a perfect dark?
Woah, woah, woah, is he using natural hallucinogens to tap into natural magic? The same magic as Tarnish? Or is the magic residing in chalk and salt, commonly used in wards and purifications, indicative of corrupted magic filtered through the bones of the earth?
And LSD can trip you into astral sight? Damn that's cool. I would interpret Dims astral fire as a function of his cutie mark rather than any wickedness.
The last section about Luna was very poignant, thank you.
Unicorn magic operates on frequency and wavelength. There will be a story about this later, when Sumac and Vinyl make the discovery. Common unicorns have a very narrow bandwidth they can access, with more powerful unicorns accessing a broader and broader bandwidth. It in turn allows exceptional individuals to make the most of the magic available. What Dim is doing is changing what frequency and wavelength he can access, thus tapping into the energy spectrum reserved for alicorns, certain specialised individuals, and earth ponies. It's a big deal

Another similiarity with Elric of Melnibone.
Of course, Elric acquired something that reduced his dependence on drugs. But that thing was "a thousand times more evil" than he was.
Let the Righteous Depravity continue!

I wonder if Darling will wind up as both "Cymoril" and "Yrkoon" to Dim's "Elric"?
Bah, who's ever been troubled by chickens?
Now this reminds me of 1930s pulp horror; Lovecraft, Howard, etc. Good stuff. Also,
is almost absent-mindedly poignant.
8106975
Chickens?
"I hear Bleargh is a fierce skeletal warrior!"
"I hear he's a mighty lich!"
"He's a zombie chicken! A zombie chicken!"
8107004
Zombie Boo, what's the matter with you...
Luna's offspring, a blessing upon Equestria. Right?

That's because, in reality, I am a dreadlocked monkey, sipping rum and banging away on a typewriter.
Ook.

Heh, I mentioned Elric m'self yesterday. Can't remember which thread/post though. Glad to see I'm not the only one to catch the similarities.

Ahh, nothing like hunting necromancers while being high as a kite!
I look forward to this story I have no idea where it's going what direction it'll take. I'll eagerly await the next chapter
Good work Dim, you accidentally correlated a factual truth.

Well, This is... interesting... I suppose? I might read it more should it ever finish... till then it'll just stay on tracking.
It got decidedly less disturbing. At least he didn't tear some poor mare's backside open this time, aye?
A drug-addicted former-noble mage-for-hire with an extreme dislike for sun? Sounds like a good story to me.

Oi, hoi, eh, aye, all interjections that are common components of a number of dialects.
I liking fucking aye, myself. It just rolls off of the tongue.
Edit: why the deletion? I didn't do it!

i should have specified that i was referring to the first chapter only.
Was going to say 'Is this meant to be Alicorn?', but noooo, had to look it up first in case........wished I hadn't.

Oh Dim, hate to tell you but Night and Dark aren't the same thing.

Damnit, I'm old.

I'm intrigued with Dim's journey in the wide world. I want to see all the terrible, wonderful places this goes

Our protagonist would do fine in most Lovecraft short stories, at least.
There is little difference between a zombie chicken and non-zombie chicken.

A wild spoiler appears!
Are they just Eigengrau spoilers or also weedverse spoilers?

The spoiler makes it clear what sort of spoiler it is.

Suddenly I have the fear.
Is he, altering his magic to see different things? That... that seems... important...
And dear lord, oh dear lord, im enjoying this.
"Alucard, how is your job going on the Grittish Isles?"
"Like, 99. . .*buc-buc-bleargh* point 9 percent done, sup bitch?"
This is unexpectedly silly, this chapter.
So is Dim a dark or light grullo?
