Sounds interesting but personally, I don't like the protagonist talking to the reader directly as if we're just sitting at a bar listening to his story that is already done with feels like any tension that could be there kinda falls out. But that's my personal taste

Honestly the fact the protagonist is telling the story only extends to the first couple of chapters then it switches over to actual being told from either third person or as it happens.
