Not a Cloud In the Sky - OutOfTheBlue

Cloud Nine was not like most ponies. Living a good life is hard when you always go it alone, but with a stranger randomly falling into his life, that's about to change.

This Won't End Well

While Aqua was having his moment in the spotlight, Cloud was experiencing life to the fullest as well. Cloud sighed as he turned the page in his borrowed copy of How To Plan Your Wedding. He had at least rolled his wheelchair to the park so he could get some sun. He checked the little notebook he had started carrying to remember important events now that his memory sucked. DOCTOR APPOINTMENT! DON'T FORGET! was written at the top of the page in massive letters. Tomorrow, tomorrow he would see how long until he could get back to living normally. Suddenly, someone said,

"Sheesh, what happened to you?" Cloud rolled his eye before answering.

"I ripped the tag off a mattress." He deadpanned. The unidentified pony snorted before responding.

"I always wondering what would happen if I did that." Cloud looked over in shock. Finally! A pony that appreciated sarcasm! Sitting on a bench nearby was a blue unicorn with a black mane and tale that had a small white streak along the side of it. He glanced down and saw his cutie mark. It was... odd. There were two parallel blue ovals with a double sided arrow going through them, but nothing between them. He looked back up to see the unicorn holding a hoof out to him. He met the hoof with his own. The unicorn nodded before saying,

"Mirror Shift." Cloud nodded before responding.

"Cloud Nine." Mirror Shift nodded before readjusting to face Cloud easier. Cloud rotated his wheelchair so now they were facing eachother. Cloud though for a second before swallowing his nerves and saying,

"So... what's with the cutie mark?" Mirror Shift looked relieved that he hadn't had to start the conversation. The unicorn cleared his throat.

"It's uh... portals. Portals and teleportation are the magic that I'm good at." Cloud whistled.

"Portals and teleportation? Now that is cool. Can you, like, make two portals so I can step into my closet and walk out at work?" Mirror rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.

"Um... the portals are more on the... small side. I can only make them about as big as a bowling ball." Cloud sighed.

"Dang it, so no portal closet. Although I'd have to worry about things walking into my house through it. Like, imagine how horrible it would be for like, a bear to come charging out of your closet in the middle of the night." Mirror grinning,

"That would be un-bear-able." He gave Cloud a cheesy smile while Cloud just gaped.

Horrible puns, sarcasm... he's me except a unicorn.

"Where have you been all my life." Cloud mumbled. Mirror's cheesy smile grew bigger.

"Probably hiding in a corner so I wouldn't have to talk to anypony." Cloud smiled.

"I feel like we should be friends." Mirror nodded.

"Thank Celestia you asked. It took me fifteen minutes to work up the courage to say something in the first place."

---------------------------

The Cloud family sat around the dinner table as they ate. Aqua was glancing between his parents before he gulped and said,

"Um... I got invited to a sleep over on Friday. It's at my friend Apple Bloom's house. They're making me a Cutie Mark Crusader so we can work together to get our cutie marks. Can I go?" Pandora looked at Cloud before shrugging.

"Sure, have fun!" Aqua sighed before hugging Pandora tightly. Rumble's mom might not be cool, but his was awesome! Pandora turned to Cloud and said,

"So, did anything interesting happen to you today?" Cloud shrugged.

"I think I made a friend. So, that's nice." Pandora cheered and kissed him. Cloud shot her a skeptical look before saying,

"What's so exciting?" Before Pandora could reply Aqua pounced on him and looked up at him with wide, blue eyes.

"Because you never talk to ponies! You always get super quiet and avoid them. So you finally became friendly!" Cloud huffed.

"I'm friendly! There just aren't many ponies worth talking to!" Pandora giggled as the two started arguing back and forth about whether or not Cloud was a friendly pony.

---------------------------------

Cloud awoke to a loud crashing sound. Upon hearing the noise Pandora shrieked in surprise. She clung to him and asked in a shaky voice,

"W-what was that?" Cloud looked out the window and saw the culprit. Dark, inky storm cloud filled the skies and a bright flash of lightning lit up the town. A loud rumble followed prompting Pandora to press closer.

"Don't worry Pandora, it's just the storm." Pandora pressed her head against his neck. She whimpered,

"I read about thunderstorms but, I didn't know they were so loud." Cloud's eyebrows furrowed before he asked,

"How have you never experienced a thunderstorm?"

"The part of the Hive I lived in was underground, and I haven't been in Equestria for very long." Their conversation was interrupted by a small changeling leaping onto their bed. Cloud hugged Aqua as he asked,

"Scared?" Aqua nodded before pressing his face to Cloud's chest.

"C-can I stay with you two tonight? Please!" Aqua smiled as he layed back down, Aqua sandwiched between him and Pandora. Now he had two changelings using him as a security blanket. He stretched a wing over them before getting comfortable again. Aqua chirped happily as he snuggled against both his parents. He giggled before saying,

"Your wing's super fluffy." Pandora wrapped the feathered limb around her before yawning and saying.

"Yup, beats any blanket hooves down. It helps that he's so snuggly warm all the time." Cloud groaned,

"Oh come on! I'm a stallion not a space heater! You two so have to make this up to me." Pandora laughed before kissing him.

"Is that enough or do you need more." Cloud smiled before pulling her closer.

"A little more wouldn't hurt." They were interrupted by Aqua laughing.

"You two are so icky! At least be less noisy when you're smooching." Cloud rolled his eyes before kissing his fiancé again. He flopped his head down on the pillow and drifted off to sleep.

Author's Note:

Before any of you ask, Mirror Shift is inspired by my friend who told me I should start writing fanfics in the first place. That conversation was basically how most of our conversations go. I figured I'd put him in here as thanks for having me write this in the first place.
