Oh. I see. I didn't know that. It's amazing that the brony fandom are using the name of a creature in Harry Potter to describe bat ponies. I even wonder if thestrals and hippogriffs will be canon in the MLP universe?
7838510 Technically speaking, Thestrals (bat-ponies) have been shown to exist in the show several times, including the Season 5 finale, so we know they're canon.
As for Hippogriffs, I suppose it's possible; Equestria is filled with ponies, and we know that griffons have a town there as well, on top of the population of Griffonstone. It's not hard to believe that a pony and a griffon could fall in love, and considering there are examples of them in fiction I don't see why hippogriffs couldn't exist.
7839019 Awesome! Do you think hippogriffs in MLP would look like Silver Quill? That'd be awesome. I even hope there will be Australian cultured ponies from a horse pun version of an Australian city. Like Sydneigh (horse pun for Sydney). Or at least a character with an Aussie accent. If that happens, or has already happened, I'll be having real fangasms since I'm an Aussie myself.
So stiff about protocol. Here's a protocol, Bade - Twilight had explicitly ordered you to treat her like an equal. Think about it. Even though Amaya can appear a bit forceful with her offers. Oh well, differing personalities. I really wonder what will make Bade's mind up. Probably the two mares conspiring together and trapping him
7839322 When was Rainbow a thestral? My knowledge of comics is null so I might be missing out if she appeared as such there I know that Fluttershy got turned magically into a bat-pony hybrid, but that was different than the actual race of bat ponies. Those were shown a few times in the series, first time appearing already in Luna Eclipsed way back in season 2, when they brought Luna's chariot over to Ponyville. So those, at least, are completely canon. No official name for them as far as I know though, so the fandom had its fun.
Faust and Larson both tweeted that batponies are a separate race (unrelated to Flutterbat who was an unnatural magical mutation) who live mainly in mountain caves or the town of Hollow Shades. Contrary to popular belief, they were popular in fanon long before "Echo" was created on /mlp./ In fact, Sunshine Smiles and Frolicsome Meadowlark in Moonstuck were introduced right at about the same time as Luna Eclipsed aired.
Bade wished to himself that he had the kind of shameless confidence that Amaya had, to admit to Twilight his romantic feelings for her and possibly...
oh, that made me think of a shameless batpony named "Lethe" who appears in TWO of my Favorites: "nurse Luna" and "a slice of life". (not the TV episode, this story involves Luna and the castle staff forcing Celestia to go on a diet!)

I do hope both mares are getting pregnant this heat season.
This is going to turn out bad

...See, this just makes me want to see Spike get with Amaya, at least once, all the more.

I am not so sure about that. The fact that Rainbow was a thestral tells me that its more likely that its magical and not natural.
