Sorry for what must seem like a very boring chapter. At least it's a step forward!
I like the chapter for giving an exposition of what the Feds have done to Equestria.
These Feds sound like they are the tau am I right
6701822 I ain't tellin' you nuthin'! But yeah, the Tau Empire was a significant inspiration for the way they function, and even the way they look to a degree.
6701832 uh oh I know too much better hide

There is nowhere you can run. There is nowhere we can't find you
6701885 well shit oh well is time den to bring out da dakka den ya sees
...as long as they don't focus on restoring the warp artifacts and focus on the liberation part. Giving sources of warp power to warp tainted mortals and daemons is generally a bad idea. I say they should kill the squid aliens and keep the elements/crystal heart/tree of harmony/whatever until it's all deemed no threat to the Imperium at large. I mean, it definately isn't, but they don't know that...
Edit: or give them the ultimate test: Have the Princesses touch a holy relic of the Emperor on this ship (assuming they have one). If they don't burst into golden flames and die horribly, then they get sanctioned!
This wasn't a boring chapter it was awesome
6703067 As much as lightly flicking holy water on all the ponies would be a fairly effective means of determining whether they're tainted or not, unfortunately the strike force in this story is a somewhat unceremonious one, one bearing no truly divine relics or artifacts of any use in this regard. However I will be exploring the limits of the marines trust for the ponies, the last thing I wanted to do was write a story were the human soldiers just decide carefree to fight for a people they know nothing about, and as we've already seen some marines are less willing to lend their help than others. Not to mention developments I have planned in the future will truly stretch the the relationship between the Astartes and the princesses, and I'm hoping it gives the story the tension it really requires. Either way, your input has very much been taken into account and I will consider it while writing future chapters, thanks ^^
Good characterisation, you really get a feel for each marine and their personalities.
6704663 Thanks, I really tried to discern them appropriately as the grump, the not-so-grump, the extra grump, the loud grump and so on
Well its not like Grace and Light don't manifest on the mortal plane its just that the Chaos Gods are realllly reallly good at killing their champions, avatars, soldiers, Gods... yeah its a bit of a rigged game at this point.
6704851 Just to give a little context, the powers of 'good' in this galaxy do not normally intrude into the fabric of reality, as described in this chapter, due to the very nature of that power. A truly benevolent god, in this universe, tries it's best to avoid intervening with mortal affairs for the simple point that they do not wish to weaken mortal capabilities by conditioning them to rely on the power of their gods. The forces of darkness couldn't give less of a s**t about this as all most of the dark gods want to do it freak flesh-creatures out and burn planets because they like the sound of the millions of screaming inhabitants (plus it doesn't hurt to omnomnom a bunch of souls in the process). The benevolent gods in the galaxy do not appear that often at all in the conflicts that take place in the galaxy, only when those fighting are completely, unfairly outmatched and are seen to truly need the help. All in all you could say I could boil it down to:
Benevolent gods: "Don't worry! You can do this by yourselves, you'll see! We believe in you!"
Dark gods: "Demonic aid? Of course! But you'll have to cut of your hands first. Why? Why the hell not?! Huh? Why, hooks of course! Rusty ones! They'll look super cool! Now stop wasting time and go eat some babies!"
6704885 I know that it doesn't happen often i probably should have worded my statement better. I was referring to the Eldar Gods which were wiped out and references ive read that Chaos has done that before to other races gods. Light and Grace rarely intercede and its made even more sparse by Chaos's active Interference is along what i was trying to confer.
*Sniff, sniff* Urgh. That stench . . . I've smelled it before

huh, so a shittier shiftier version of the tau? interesting choice of a villain.
Is this foreshadowing? That would be terri-bad for their world. In 40K, weaponizing "magic" without carefully controlled restraint and containment is a truly horrific idea. Given that the Federation has two hundred worlds in this fic (pretty sure I remember that right from an earlier chapter), mass use of weaponized warp power on so many planets could easily devolve into a sector-wide disaster or larger with Chaos lurking in the Warp.

Does that mean that this alternate universe of yours has benevolent warp entities on par with, say, the Eldar pantheon or may be even the Dark Gods? Not counting the Emperor, I mean, because he's not a warp entity per-say. Are you going to include Warhammer Fantasy's benevolent deities or something?
