Man, I didn't expected things to go so out of hand by Nightmare Moon being released into the word and I got to say that your description of her is a very good one. I feel that the girls and Varadoch will have a lot of conflict after his attempt to kill Nightmare Moon. Hope to see more of this story.
I love this story and how quickly you've been updating it
So why are Space Marines so chummy with the ponies? I mean, isn't it the Imperiums stance to kill xenos on sight? It could be an alliance of convinience but the marines seem to genuinely care about the ponies. The only reasons for that I can see is that the Imperium either isn't as xenophobic as all the games and books portray, the Imperium is a lot nicer in this perticular universe, or the it's just this perticular Space Marine Chapter that seems to care.
6707519 In 40k, absolutely, however personally I just can't see how anyone could crossover genuine, tru-to-canon 40k with MLP effectively. Every scenario in that story would basically be Imperials blasting ponies to marshmallowy little bits just because of reasons. So instead this story and all Faith and Fire stories I write in the future are set in an alternate 40k-like universe. I would have just cooked up my own sci-fi setting and filled it with original ideas, but the Imperium itself provides very interesting characteristics and functionalities I love writing about and I love space marines just TO DAMN MUCH! Either way, there are a lot of differences between this universe and the one in traditional 40k, so expect to see space marines far more tolerant to the idea of non-hostile aliens than usual ones. If you have any questions feel free to ask
Ok the ponies might not open Tarterus but the crazy mare could do it Imperial Exorcism any one?
6704693 Sort of a 40k Game Grumps then?
6708124 In all honesty, isn't every space marine a grump at heart? But seriously, no, I just gave them certain base characteristics to work with that I plan to change and develop over time.
...why was the Daemon left unattended again? Seems kinda neglegent.
6708453 Might wanna skim through the chapter again, it wasn't a daemon, it's Nightmare Moon. The only reason Errithius thought she might be a daemon was because:
1 - Ennyre felt a spiritually parasitic entity attached to Princess Luna, an entity that was quite similar to a daemon beginning to possess a mortal creature. However Nightmare Moon isn't exactly possessing Luna, their relationship between one another will be explored in later chapters.
2 - Nightmare Moon has a couple of demonic attributes, such as her wings, claws, teeth and eyes, but is not actually a daemon (again, her nature will be revealed later in the story). Again, due to Errithius and the marines being utterly unfamiliar with Equestrians and their history they had no idea what to make of Nightmare Moon, but could not ignore the warning signs that reminded them of their most dreaded enemy.
The captain ordered Varadoch not to fire because he knew from listening to the ponies dialogue with Nightmare that he and his brethren truly have no idea what's going on with this planet, or the people that live on it. He was only sure that filling stuff with bolt rounds would probably only cause more problems than it would solve. Plus Nightmare Moon wasn't exactly directly threatening them, if anything it sounded like she was going to do them a favour. Time will tell
... WOW That was awesome Your description (both physical and psychological) of Nightmare Moon was maybe the most badass that I've ever seen
(although I feel that there's still a bit of Luna inside her, judging by her reaction when Varadoch throws away Celestia).
She sees the target of her attempted murder shrug off her power and yet she still thinks she's some sort of unstoppable juggernaut. Yeah, I think it can be safely said that she isn't just off her rocker, she has thrown it out the window and smash a Molotov cocktail over it. I'm thinking she also doesn't know about the good chances of the Feds utilizing scorched Earth against Equestria if she succeeds since she wasn't at the meeting the gang had.
