New Beginnings
"Come on, come on, come on!" Mumbled Rumble as he pat his suitcase impatiently. "This is so dumb, why must I be the one to deliver Cloudchaser's wedding invasions to her parents instead of using the post office." He was currently waiting for his train to Manehatten so he could fulfill his obligation and be done with it. "I guess it would be nice to see auntie Grace Note and uncle Quiet Storm again." Rumble looks around the train station watching some townsponies walk by as he continued to wait. "It has been some years since I saw them last."
He watches more passengers board their trains and leave off to their destinations while he was still sitting here. Growling impatiently he glances up at the clock. "Its 2:00? My train was supposed to be here 30 minutes ago." The gray pegasus grabs his suitcase and heads towards the help desk where a pony was reading. "Um excuse me."
"Yes, can I help you?" Asked the pony at the help desk looking at the gray pegasus.
"Can you tell me when the train to Manehatten is supposed to arrive?" He asked pointing up at the clock. "I've been here waiting for over an hour and it still hasn't arrived."
"Oh I'm sorry sir." Apologized the helpful pony. "Its running a little late but it should within the next hour."
After thanking the pony at the help desk Rumble returns to his seat in a huff. "Stupid delays." He muttered to himself reaching in his suitcase. "Well I guess it cant be helped." He pulls out a piece of paper and a pencil. "Might as well write some poetry while I wait." He sits there for five minutes staring at the blank paper. "Aaaaaannndddd, nothing. Augh why cant I come up with anything? Ok lets recompose and try again." With renewed vigor he stares at the still blank paper ready to begin. "Still nothing? Sigh, Ok lets try again." His face suddenly lights up. "Aha! Inspiration!" Using his pencil and his new founded muse Rumble begins to write on the paper finally soiling the once blank paper. After two minutes of writing and feeling content with himself Rumble stops writing to admire his hoofwork. "Ok lets see my new work of art!" Rumble takes one look at his writing and his face drops.
Because on the paper much to his annoyance he had only written the word. "The" Rumble drops his pencil in disbelief. "The? I only wrote The?!" He covers his head in shame over his new work of art. "Why, why can I come up with anything?"
"Um excuse me."
Rumble looks up from his self-pity and a gray mare that he knew very well stood before him. "Silver Spoon? what are you doing here?" He really didn't feel like putting up with her antics today.
"Well other ponies DO have to use the train too Rumble." She said in a mocking tone. "That includes me and Diamond Tiara as well."
Rumble looks around in a panic at Diamond Tiara's name. "Is Diamond Tiara here too?!" He really hoped that she wasn't here as there was no way he could handle their combined power alone. He wondered how did Applebloom managed to deal with them for so long.
"Relax Rumble." Silver Spoon replied as she took the seat next to him. "She's not here. Just because we do everything together doesn't mean we have to be together twenty-four seven." She sits her bag next to her on the floor. "Is Button Mash here too?"
"Naw, he's probably playing his video games or hanging out with Sweetie Belle." Rumble's ears twitched at the mention of his best friends name. "Wait, did you just call him Button Mash?"
Silver Spoon readjust her glasses as she looked at Rumble's shocked expression. "That is his name right?"
"Y-y-yeah." He stammered. "But I thought that you guys just liked calling him Joyous Boyous, Captain Video Game Nerd, or his least favorite Awesome Possum."
Silver Spoon quickly covers her mouth with her hoof to stop herself from laughing. "Oh yeah! Awesome Possum was a good one. I never thought that he would get that one." Rumble chuckles along with the silver maned mare. It was funny watching Button Mash rant to his friends about that name. "So where are you off to Rumble?" She asked looking at the gray pegasus.
"Oh, I'm off to Manehatten to deliver my sister's wedding invasions." He said. "I still don't why Cloudchaser doesn't just use the post office."
"You have a sister?" Asked Silver Spoon. "I didn't know you have a sister."
"Well not by blood of course. "Rumble said smiling. "Cloudchaser and Flitter have been in my family for so long that I consider them to be my older sisters, the same rule applies for Button Mash as well.
The earth filly looks at the gray pegasus with a smirk. "Why Rumble, I didn't know that you view Button Mash as one of your sisters."
"I didn't mean... I meant that he like a brother to me." He replied looking away. "My first friend since I moved here five years ago."
"That's right, and if I remember correctly, Button Mash moved here too." She said
Rumble nods his head. "Yep, and pretty soon we met the crusaders. Heh when Button Mash first laid eyes on Sweetie Belle he was determined to be her friend, but she always found him to be annoying."
"And now they're dating." Silver Spoon shakes her head. "I still don't know what she sees in him."
"Well according to Sweetie Belle, Button Mash won her over by being Button Mash." Silver Spoon looks over to Rumble while he continued. "He was loud, annoying, a crybaby and played too many video games, but he was always himself. Do you know how hard it is to be who you are despite others wanting you to be something else?" Rumble claps his hooves together. "Inspiration!" He grabs his pencil and begins to write.
Silver Spoon shifts in her seat as she watches Rumble write something down on the paper. "What are you writing Rumble?"
"A poem."
"A poem? I didn't know you like to write poetry too Rumble." Rumble stops writing as Silver Spoon reaches in her bag and pulls out some papers. "Here are some of mine."
Rumble takes the papers that Silver Spoon offered him. "You write poetry? I never would have thought-"
"That a bully like me could write poems?" She said reaching in her bag.
The gray pegasus waves his hooves. "No no no no I didn't mean, its just surprising that's all." He reads the papers that gray mare gave to him. " Wow these are pretty good Silver Spoon, there is such emotion in your writing style. I cant even get Scootaloo to read mine, she just thinks that I'm too cool for that."
"Who says that writing poetry isn't cool?" Asked the gray mare. "Does she not know that writing poetry comes from what you feel?"
Rumble narrows his eyes. "I tried to tell her that but she always laughed at them. I always do what she wants and I ask her to read some of my writing and she laughs and we do something that she wants to do."
"Well that's not fair." Replied Silver Spoon.
"Not only that but I hate the way she talks about Rainbow Dash!" Rumble's eye started to twitch. "She's not all that! She's a very lazy pony who got Extremely lucky and beat my brother in that race! It was a fluke that he lost!"
Silver Spoon watches Rumble grind his teeth together, she had no idea that Rumble held his older brother in such high regard. "You look up to your brother, don't you Rumble?"
"Of course! I believe he can do anything!" He looks down sadly. "But when he lost to Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo cheered over her victory and my brother's defeat I just..."
ALL ABOARD THE TRAIN TO MANEHATTEN. ALL ABOARD!!!
Rumble and Silver Spoon quickly rise from their seats. "Oh my trains here." They look at each other in surprise. " You're going to Manehatten too Silver Spoon?"
She only nods her head.
"Well do you want to write some poems on the way there?" Rumble asked. "I'm pretty sure it will be a long trip."
Silver Spoon smiles. "Yes, I would love that Rumble." Both ponies enter the train together on their trip to Manehatten on this beautiful spring day.
"Today's the day Rumble!" Replied Button Mash excitedly. "Tonight me and Sweetie Belle will be going on our very first date! I cant wait!"
Rumble was just sitting on Button's floor lost in thought with a smile on his face not really listening to his best friends speaking to him. "I have been waiting for this for a long time since we started dating last summer."
"That's nice Button." Sighed Rumble
Its Sunday afternoon in the small town of Ponyville. Rumble returned from his trip to Manehatten happier than usual. It was nice to see some relatives that he hadn't seen in quite some time.
"I'm gonna go Button." Rumble gets up and walks to Button's window. "I got to do something."
Button Mash smiles as he admires himself in a mirror. "Ok then I'll tell you how it went Rumble."
Rumble flies out of room not really knowing where he was going. He had nothing better to do as he flew thought the town. He thought maybe he should go write some poetry.
"HEY RUMBLE!"
The gray pegasus looks down where a orange filly pegasus was looking up at him calling his name. Rumble descends next to Scootaloo who hugs him. "I didn't know you were back in town."
"Yeah I'm back. " He said breaking the hug.
"So I was wondering if you wanted to hang out tonight?" She asked with a hopeful smile.
Rumble quickly looks around nervously. "Oh uh I cant because uh I'm playing video games with Button tonight!"
"Oh well maybe some other time then." She said disappointed walking away leaving Rumble with his thoughts. Why did he lie, he knew he couldn't lie to save his life, but he did anyway.
"I need some advice, maybe Thunderlane can help me." Rumble flies off towards his house hoping that his older brother can help him with this.
"Alright Thunderlane just 5 more reps!" The black pegasus pony know as Thunderlane was currently working out in the basement. After losing to Rainbow Dash in the finals he decided to pump up his training regime. "One, Two ,Three, Four, Five, Six." When he lost the race, Rumble looked so disappointed but understood that his opponent WAS Rainbow Dash, All Thunderlane could do at that point was give it everything he had. "Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten." It wasn't easy and he may have lost but at least he could take some pride in keeping up with her thought the race. He just wanted Rumble to have somepony to look up to.
"Big Bro! Are you down here?" Rumble descends into the basement where his brother was currently working out.
Thunderlane stops and looks at his younger brother with a smile. "Hey sport what's up?" Rumble sits down on couch as his brother continued to workout.
"Bro I need some relationship advice. Rumble said looking at his brother. Thunderlane stops his workouts and sits next to his brother on the couch.
"So what's the problem Rumble?" He asked " A little trouble in paradise?"
Rumble looks down avoiding his brother's eyes. "I-I think I'm in love."
"Oh oh oh is that it? You're in love with-"
"Somepony else." Rumble interrupted still looking down.
Thunderlane's eyes widen in surprise as the room grows silent. "Oh, I see." He wraps a hoof around his younger brother. "Rumble listen to me. Its ok these things happen a lot and its ok to feel this way.
"I mean she is just everything Scootaloo isn't. she really nice despite being mean, she loves to write poetry, and she talks about other things than just Rainbow Dash and how cool she is." Rumble said. "Its nice to have somepony to read my poems to without being laughed at. I just don't want to hurt Scootaloo's feelings that's all."
"Rumble, feelings get hurt all the time, its unavoidable, but you take your lumps, learn from it and move on. If you like this new pony then Scootaloo just has to respect your decision. And I'm sure that Button Mash and his friends will understand."
Rumble smiles and stands up from the couch. "Thanks bro." He races upstairs feeling better. Thunderlane smiles as he returned to his workouts, rarely does he ever get a chance to play big brother and he hopes for the best for his baby brother.
"Well Silvy how did your trip to Manehatten go?" Asked Diamond Tiara as she laid on her bed. "Did you enjoy yourself in the big city?"
Silver Spoon readjusts her glasses as she continued to write. "Yeah it was fun and all, kinda sad it ended so early." She didn't tell Diamond Tiara about her meeting up with Rumble.
"I wish I could of have went with you. The two of us taking on the big city, going shopping and other things. " Replied the diamond crowned mare.
"Well maybe some other time DT." Chuckled Silver Spoon.
*DING* DONG*
"I wonder who that could be?" Asked Diamond Tiara as she and Silver Spoon went downstairs to the front door.
*DING* DONG*
Diamond Tiara opens her front door angrily. 'WHAT DO YOU-" She stops in midsentence as a gray pegasus stood in the doorway. "Rumble?! What are you doing here?" Rumble doesn't answer her, he only looks at the glasses wearing mare standing next to her.
"Sliver Spoon I-I need to talk to you." She looks at Rumble with a very shocked expression on her face as Diamond Tiara switches looks between the two.
"Silver Spoon." Rumble takes a deep breath. "Silver Spoon, I want to know you, not the mask you wear but the true you, the sweet girl I met at the train station, I want to know you but I'm not sure if you want to know me too. I thought that you was mean but that was a lie, and I want others to see who you are deep inside. A kind and gentle soul who hides her feelings in her words. I want all to see that you're not who you say you are but show them who you are. Silver Spoon I want to be with you though the seasons, from when the leaves change till the snow falls on the ground, Because Silver Spoon I love you, and I want you to love me too."
Diamond Tiara looks over at Silver Spoon confused. She had no idea what was going on and some part of her wanted to say something, but the other part just told her to just stay quiet and watch.
"R-Rumble, d-do you really feel this way about me?" She tearfully asked.
"Of course, after all good poetry comes from how you feel right?" He replied with a smile. Silver Spoon walks up to Rumble and nuzzles him on the cheek.
"You're poem was sweet, but it could use some work." She said smiling.
Rumble chuckles as Silver Spoon leans on him. "Don't worry about that. I have a lovely teacher who's willing to help me get better." Both of them close their eyes enjoying each others embrace on this beautiful spring night.
"Hold it!" Diamond Tiara stares at heartwarming sight before her. "What is going on here? Rumble aren't you dating Scootaloo?"
He looks off to the side avoiding the piercing gaze of Diamond Tiara. "No, not anymore. I plan to break things off with her tomorrow."
"I'm sure that she or her friends would not like that very much." She said.
Rumble does allow himself a small smile. "If there is one pony I know who will stick by my decision, Its Button Mash."
The pink earth filly merely shrugs. "Whatever, I'm going back inside while you two have your moment." She walks back inside with a very bad feeling that something terrible was going to happen, but she pushes the thought away, tomorrow was going to be quite interesting.
It was a beautiful spring day in the small town of Ponyville as the classroom of Miss Cherilee was outside enjoying this beautiful day. Applebloom and Sweetie Belle was off doing something leaving Scootaloo by herself. Rumble walks over to the orange filly who quickly notices his presence. "Oh hey Rumble what's up?"
"Scootaloo...We need to talk."

Are you serious? Why are you here if this offends your OTP. If you read the story then you would know that Rumble and Scootaloo's personalities damn near matched with minor differences. Rumble looks up to his brother while Scootaloo looks up to Rainbow Dash. Dating your clone never works.

Here's one thing they are in common in with, the two are athletic (Rumble with his fast flying and Scootaloo with her scooter)
There’s also the fact that his brother is an athletic pegasus that would be a good match for Rainbow Dash if you shipped them, so the ‘little siblings’ being paired up works as a dynamic there too.
Here's another of how the two would end up together, Scootaloo can't fly and Rumble can, Rumble can teach Scoot how to fly and over time, Scoot can fall in love with him

4599978 Well in the finals to become a Wonderbolt in training. Thunderlane and Rainbow Dash was the last two left and a race was decided to see who would advance. Thunderlane trained with his brother for when Scootaloo said that they shouldn't try because Rainbow was going to win. Rumble wanted to prove her wrong. Long story short, Rainbow won, Scootaloo was happy, and Rumble was pissed. and some other stuff here and there. Its like a married couple getting a divorce because of their teams. Its sounds ridiculous but it does happen.

Well there is no story. But it was heavily implied due to Rumble's dislike of Rainbow Dash
Well, nice prologue, and I think this is when Dark Force starts to take hold of them. There were a couple of sentences where words were missing. Case in point, I think the sentence, "Wait, did you just him Button Mash" is missing the word 'call' in it and this sentence, "...hard it is to be who are despite..." needs the word 'you'. Also, it should be "...with you through the seasons..." instead of 'thought.' There are times I really hate my proofreading literacy.

I guess Button's reaction to the breakup was the exact opposite to what Rumble expected, not to mention, wanted.
