Having been blindsided by Rarity's possible survival, Rainbow and Twilight wonder how to best track their former friend down, while Applejack tries her best to help Fluttershy through a chapter of her life she thought she had closed.
Oh my the reckoning is close. Rather surprised to see that Dash didn't go through with her plan, though a part of me can't blame her. Charity and Rarity are currently two completely different individuals. Now to see what will happen to Rarity if the element succeeds in restoring her. Maybe the time spent as Charity will have done some good.
oh dear it is coming to a head here.......... if rarity was allowed to just wake up normally, then there would be no hope for her. she would still be that selfish creature and blame others. Yet now she ha seen rainbow dash's pain truly, without the dark lens of whatever delusions convinced her that what she was diong was in her right. it is unlikely she would become that being agian.......... yet the psychological ramifications of this are giong to be considerable.
Well, Rainbow just narrowly avoided becoming a monster comparable to the old Rarity. She almost took away the innocence and sanity of an innocent mind.
And I don't see how Luna thinks she could get away with murdering someone on a basis that she chooses, and not have anyone find out. If she does take justice into her own hooves, she is proving to everyone who finds out that she hasn't changed from her time as Nightmare Moon.
So I guess this means she really was possessed, as if allowed to roam unchecked, she would have killed many, many, many creatures. If she honestly believes that Rarity deserves to die over herself, evidenced by Luna still breathing, then either she was possessed when she was Nightmare Moon, or she is a massive hypocrite.
4559370 I'm not talking killing her. There are many other forms of punishment than death.
Forms that will most likely be left unexplored in this story. Luna has many ways of removing Rarity from the picture, and with her militant stance on preserving all equine life, murder is not one.
Wow... this is just getting better and better. Interesting to hear your feelings about the original, I sort of feel the same. So this whole story is just... the answer.
Oh, and the there's this :Charity I post it for... well the obvious reason, then I think it mirrors Charitys feelings towards luna and... well it's a great song.
and one day, you have to tell if this was planned all along or...
Yes I am repeating myself but what the buck shall I do? IT'S SO DAMN GOOD!
No mention about Sweetie Belle? how much does she know about her sister´s crimes? how did she feel on her funeral? and most important, doesn´t she have the right of knowing Rarity is still alive, and where?
First fic I read when I woke up. Interesting, and I both feel bad about Rainbow Dash and Charity's talk. While feeling amused as to what it's going to be like when Charity gets mentally re-united with Rarity.
I agree, we never hear about her. But at least she didn't do the whole revenge thing that she did in Kaidan's fic to Scootaloo. But yeah I'd like to know what's up with her too.
You know.... I think this actually end nicely. I mean first of all Rainbow made the right choice in sparing Rarity and I loved her little talk with her broken self. Both of those actions just show how far she's come from the incident as had this been the old version of her then she would've gone berserk and tore Rarity a new one but that's the thing... this is CHARITY not RARITY though I think that we may see Rarity again pretty soon. I just hope Rainbow has enough room in her heart to actually forgive her after her memories come back because it seems like she's only forgiving, and in a weird way apologizing, to Charity. The true mending process has yet to begin so I'm eager to see what happens next.
Yay for Rainbow being the bigger mare and just walking away, and then reading her broken dream self the riot act! I'm soooooo proud of her!
And I know that, together, she and Twilight will figure out how to get her cutie mark back to its original self.
But why do I get the feeling it will take confronting Rarity again to do it?
I just hope that nothing bad happens then. Especially for the other girls...given that Applejack and Fluttershy are now together.
And I hope that the Mane 5 stand together if (when) Rarity shows up in Ponyville (hopefully as the Rarity that they all knew from the beginning). I can't see them not doing that, really. They're all friends again, and, as I said, I can't see them not doing that, as they're not the way they all were a year ago. They're a team again, and they're not going to let her ride rough-shod over them again.
For one thing, I think that AJ is going to be more than a little protective of Flutters now.
As for the Rarity end of it, I say "uh-oh". What's gonna happen when Luna returns the Necklace of Generosity to her, and she gets all of her memories back?! Nothing bad, I hope. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see, huh?
And on a side note, like Raistlin, I'm curious about where Sweetie Belle is, and what she's been doing, as well. Obviously, she's not going to Ponyville School with Apple Bloom and Scootaloo (as I think you mentioned somewhere else...either in the original story, or one of the other sequels; can't remember which...silly, forgetful me), so I was just curious, too.
Rarity had a hand in creating you, but so did all of our other friends.
Hoof, maybe?
Was I really supposed to tell that sweet pony, 'Sorry, but you used to be a sadistic bitch that nearly ruined five lives'?
YES!!
Forgiveness, true forgiveness, is selfish. It lets you unburden yourself of the frustration you have toward the one who has wronged you.
"Actually, forgiveness is the simplest way to lighten our burdens. The man who forgives is no more saintly than one who insists upon keeping clean. In reality, the act of forgiveness constitutes a mental bath—letting go of something that can only poison us within."
Eric Butterworth That way, the burden of hate becomes a burden of guilt that rests solely on whoever wronged you. However, if the person who wronged you does not remember what they did, the burden of hate does not become guilt and it is not shifted, it is still on your shoulders. This is why Rainbow is still so angry, she forgave someone who technically did nothing to her. Rarity raped and tortured her and Rainbow forgave some random mare for what Rarity did. The burden is still being carried by Rainbow, while Rarity/Charity, in Rainbow's mind, feels no guilt about her vile deeds whatsoever.
The inability to forgive eats away at your mind, gnawing at you little by little until... well, the hate you feel changes your cutie mark into one of vengeance.
forgiveness cannot be given to someone who doesn't want it/know they did something wrong.
That being said, Luna this is a VERY bad idea...
Also you're a princess, if you showed up at the dungeon and told the guards to lock the bitch up, I doubt they would ask about statutory limits. She KNOWS Rarity deserves it.
Also, I doubt the time starts if the offender has been in a coma. (whats that I killed 10 ponies? Sorry I was in a coma for a year you cant charge me)
That would be an easy way out if you did something bad...
Will Charity understand the truth? Will she accept it? Will Rarity be reawaken? Will Fluttershy love Rarity again? All this and many more on the next episode of Dragon Ball Z!
4562638 Not if the offender dies in their coma. Most crimes severe enough to still be worth punishing after a long time don't actually have a statute of limitations; murder and (I think) rape are prime examples. Realistically there shouldn't be any restrictions like that on Rainbow's ability to press charges, but since she doesn't want to the point is moot.
4559370 There's a big difference between killing a rapist with sadistic personality disorder and a God complex to protect the common citizen from her, and bringing about eternal night because you feel unloved.
4559300 I know, right? I honestly felt Rainbow was too forgiving in Fractured Elements, given that Rarity may have started the idea but she had four helpers, and only one of them has any ground to even try to excuse her actions.
"Did you expect her to say anything? No matter how she changes, I suspect she'll always have a little bit of pride. With everything that you've done, I think that was just her way of saying that you were probably right. Probably. She just can't bring herself to actually say it."
Or saying you're a shitlord for putting her in this situation. Seriously, not often disappointed in my fave moonbutt
Oh, can't wait for more
Oh my the reckoning is close. Rather surprised to see that Dash didn't go through with her plan, though a part of me can't blame her. Ah, soooo exciting!!
I may need to reread the original to remind myself of the crimes.

Things are heating up.
Can't wait to see what happens.
4559266 actually Charity is behaving like the true rarity. she is everything rarity lost when whatever madness took over her.
4559271 I don't have that luxury.
Every single time I read it, it puts me into a very vengeful mindset that makes me want to butcher all five of them.
Clearly, that cannot happen, because Rainbow is past that stage.
Kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill kill
Also, I think I hate this Luna. Can we kill her too?
Well, Rainbow just narrowly avoided becoming a monster comparable to the old Rarity. She almost took away the innocence and sanity of an innocent mind.

Well then! Looks like my theory was right!
You know, if having her memory wiped had been the original punishment, I would've been fine with that.
But as a 'get out of being beaten to death' card, it just rankles me. So, yay for Rarity getting her memory back.
And I suppose they could always find a cockatrice and add another statue to the Canterlot gardens.
Wow... this is just getting better and better. Interesting to hear your feelings about the original, I sort of feel the same. So this whole story is just... the answer.

Well I haven't wanted a chapter of a story so bad for a VERY long time, Miles you magnificent bastard how do you do this.

And that goes for their parents, as well.
4559433 No, this was not all planned. Some of it is actually quite recent.
well, rarity finally grew a spine.
4559300 Ah yes, that mind frame. I had it for hours after reading the original. Then I read your squeal. I enjoyed Twilight's suffering way too much.
Hang on, what if Rarity still likes Fluttershy?
4560777 That's one of about 50 questions that I'm struggling to answer right now.
Hoof, maybe?
YES!!
