Suppose that he can't use the "I was drunk" excuse can he?
lol great chapter!
took long enough but none the less another great chapter
Nice chapter. I like the part where pinkie notes the 6 member team being like the mane 6.
4845346
I'll note that they may have absolutely no idea where that is. Kind of hard to hit a target if you don't know where it is. And nukes aren't great at destroying things below ground, which, according to my understanding, is where the main hive is. They'd be wasting a perfectly good nuke.
4845402 You have a point...
4845401 1.) Ask the ponies, I've heard them mention that the Changelings live in the Scorched Lands on multiple occasions 2.) It would still devastate the changelings and make 'em think twice about mession with you, and if that doesn't work a large MAC slug would probably make short work of the Main Hive anyway.
4919857
For all we know, the Scorched Lands are the size of the Sahara desert, making locating the main hive like finding a needle in a haystack that's the size of a school gymnasium.
4919930 Be that as it may the UNSC have been able to find and pinpoint the locations of individuals on a planet-wide scale, they have access to units that specialize in information gathering and essentially the air-power of a small country, they could have their pilots scan the desert from a safe altitude or even launch satalites for the same purpose; all in all they could find the changeling hive relatively quickly and then it would just bombing them into submission.
4924350
And what's to keep the changelings from just disguising the hive with magic, and using more magic to ensure they can't just find the hive through magic. You also keep forgetting that the Infinity is currently hovering over Equestria, probably to keep the changelings heads down and prevent them from trying to attack Equestria.
4924814 You have made some very good points but magic energy is probably detectable using Infinity's scanners, in fact it's probably atomic in nature and therefore radioactive as it was mentioned earlier that the Spartan-IV's MJOLNIR armour use the same energy that the different species of Equus (or whatever this planet's called again) identify as magic, energy created by a minature Nuclear Fusion reactor.
4925043
That's in part what I meant. Saturate a 100km radius around the main hive with magic, then use more to disguise the entrance. You've now got a massive needle in a haystack search where the needle looks like hay.
4925060 I am tired, it is 2:30 AM, so forgive me if this sounds stupid but... FIRE ALL ZE MISSILES, LEAVE NO STONE UNEXPLODED! Goodnight
4925121
Assuming that the Scorched Lands have a similar area to the Sahara Desert, there isn't enough volume in the Infinity to house the missiles and warheads required for that. Sorry, I highly doubt that, unless there are any large scale engagements with changeling forces in the near future, we will be seeing the Infinity do much more than fly around and look awesome doing it. Even if they only initiated saturation bombardment of the area around the hive saturated in magic, that's still a circle with a 200 kilometer diameter. There are spacecraft that orbit the Earth at altitudes below 200km above sea-level, to put that number into perspective. The only downside for the changelings is the amount of magic required in the first place, which for all we know could be utterly astronomical.
4925306 Sorry I think you may have missed the fact that I essentially said you "win and I'm too tired to think straight, so here's some nonsensical humour" I will redouble my efforts i future to make it more blindingly obvious.

Good to know. I was merely trying to be comedic. Obviously, I did something wrong.
4928319 No it was probably just me being a bit thick, we all have our moments and this one seemed to be particularly bad, for both me and those around me. My sincerest apologies for being quite so rude to one as undeserving as yourself Good Sir.
4928618
No problem. Gods know I can be just as dense and rude at times.
Hey guys!
I was just wondering, if this story were a movie or tv show or something, what trailer music do you think would go well with this?
Also, let me know if you`ve made any fan art related to this story.
Peace!
Splitting the squads up into their fireteams for the exercise is a good idea. Since there are only four platoons fighting, separating into fireteams would enable more area to be covered and more tactical flexibility to compensate for the lack of numbers each side possesses to take and hold strategic positions.
...Why hasn't anyone else thought of this?
That isn't how promotion works. Promotion equals increased duties and responsibilities. Plus, this was not a combat environment.
Wow, where is this army of easy promotions and where can I get some?
Where did they get so many men? *cough*cheaters*cough* That is not superior preparation, that is just not physically possible unless they had far more Marines per squad than the other platoon, which would be cheating almost as much as having a team of ODSTs in their platoon.
Applejack said the EXACT same thing to Jorge in the Noble Guardians.
