Celestia's got a reason for everything she does. It's just that it doesn't always go as planned.

A field trip to the Fillydelphia Mint gets Twilight a most unique possession: a coin properly cast, enchanted, and impressed, yet worth zero bits. Nopony else has anything like it. Nopony else has used anything like it. And Twilight wants to get a head start on her firsts, so she wants to get rid of it. How hard can it be to spend zero bits?

Getting that driver's license was about freedom, wasn't it? Maybe all she can afford is the scooter, but it still allows Sunset the option to just fuel up, point the front wheel in a given direction, and -- well, it's not as it would be the first time she gave in to that kind of urge. A unicorn didn't exactly feel like she had a lot of actual choices in her life, and the resulting human is --

-- going to spend an entire night watching teenage girls trying to assemble a model of something which never existed.

The human knows that's a choice. She's not sure it's a good one.

Rob and Batenberg are (and have been for a while) friends, and have a chance now to do friendly things together. Rob, though, gets distracted by a thought, and it derails proceedings, at least briefly.

The train had been full when they left Union Station, and her coach had been full of life. She overheard conversations and watched as the world whizzed by.

Now she's the only one left in the coach and it's dark outside. What was once lively and scenic is no longer.
