Is Celestia a tyrant? No. Incompetent? Yes. · 2:21pm Jul 5th, 2017

In honor of the United States of America’s independence, I present you with this blog piece. A critical analysis of government and politics as seen in MLP.

One of the most common fan fiction "alternative" portrayals of Princess Celestia is that she’s a tyrant. She’ll banish you to the moon in a heartbeat, where you may or may not find bananas. She has secret dungeons under her castle where she keeps political prisoners.

A Minor tease · 3:19am Sep 16th, 2016

But what got the whole empire in rage was the abuse of power from the KP on the prisoners and the empire as a whole. The KP was supposed to be a law enforcer and protector of the citizens inside the empire, instead of that they were used to shut, silence or disappear anyone who dared to talk against them or the government (and they didn't cared who it was: pony, griffon, minotaur, changeling, etc. They were all took down). The reports of abuse were as big as the reports on

To Ignore Something Is to Approve of It · 11:51am Jul 19th, 2020

In my last blog post, I said that I actively try to avoid posting overtly personal things on here. But that's the problem, isn't it? That mentality. "You shouldn't speak about certain things. Those things have a place and it isn't here."

But when you ignore something, you are implicitly approving of it. To be silent about an issue is to say that it is not worth speaking up about.

Splendiferous · 10:35pm Nov 19th, 2015

Splendiferous. You've probably heard the word before, most frequently enunciated by Pinkie Pie, or the local equivalent thereof.

Because of this, you might, at times, want to use it in a story.

Today, I did just that while writing my latest story, a MarbleMac piece which may-or-may-not be coming out soon, depending on how it goes.

However, I discovered something strange while doing so - Word didn't recognize the word as a misspelling.

Writing 101: Allow Inference, Don't Dictate—What is "Show, Don't Tell" and Why Is It so Important? · 10:07am Mar 2nd, 2017

I know what you’re thinking, Jimmy (do you mind if I call you "Jimmy"?). “cleverpun, this subject has been covered a hundred times before, by authors who are way better at writing than you. What could you possibly tell me that I don’t already know?”

To that I say: this topic is so important, that it is worth having as many perspectives as possible. Hopefully this longer-than-average blog post either provides some new insight into the topic, or at least reinforces its import.

"Sweet and Smoky" Review: Garble and the Parallels to Earth's Worst Dictator · 6:03pm May 26th, 2019

This episode almost made me spill my drink on the screen. The reveal that Garble is Smolder's brother came quick, efficiently and merciless. Even after missing the first few minutes of the episode, and therefore all that talk about how Smolder's brother is a softie like Spike, this plot twist still blew my mind. Smolder isn't anything like Garble, how can two dragons who are so different be siblings? One of these apples definitely fell far from the tree. And knowing Garble and looking at his
