Well, here we are. Generation 5’s about to start in the form it will be most defined by, a Netflix CG show, kicking off with the two-parter Make Your Mark.
Off the promos, trailers and clips, I have thoughts about it. Many… conflicted thoughts, not least about the animation (hey, a ghost's gotta have his priorities). But, now is not the time or the place for that, it can wait. In the meantime, let’s celebrate with another batch of just Generation 5 Ponyfics, shall we?

Was dedicating three weeks solely to the 16 stories written for the Who Crossed Over My Little Pony? contest the best idea? Maybe, maybe not. Oh well, the reviews are all prepped now, let’s ride it out to the end.
We’re approaching the end of my Author Spotlight catchup, where, as you may recall, to make up for not doing any for October through January, I’ve doubled up for four months starting in March. Meaning only three to go; after that, it won’t be a regular feature anymore, instead only when it best suits. And, this antepenultimate entry is the first of an author who’s a regular reader of Monday Musings: that being Rune Soldier Dan.
Paddy’s Day came and went. Given I don’t drink alcohol at all and am not the most social phantom except in moderately-sized groups with close friends, acquaintances and colleagues, I naturally stayed in, even if large chunks of this emerald isle celebrated or got themselves wasted. Not that I minded, the national holiday gave me a three-day weekend, and those are always nice.
My sister used to read the books that this series was based on to me as a kid, way back before I was old enough to read anything more than Hop on Pop or whatever. So I liked those books, I'd like to go back and read them sometimes, but I remember them being very funny and witty. So back when this series came out, I very much disliked it, because it's just a pretty different thing than how I remember the books. Author Spotlight time again! Three times makes a tradition with the fortnightly edition now. And unlike last time, not just a cluster of small one-shots with small word counts; indeed, we’ve got two novelettes here aiming to be episode-like stories. Those are always curious. So, let’s look at some of Piccolo Sky’s work.

Okay, that’s not strictly true. I have been structuring my reading time a bit more, enough to slow/stop the decreasing backlog of prepared reviews. It’ll be a little while before it’s returned to the safe threshold of when I started these (that was nearly 50 stories, somehow), but it’s something.
Eh, the cover screencaps/gifs and funny captions lasted 10 blogs, but they’re not worth the effort to bring up every week. Leave them for when inspiration strikes, I say! It’s all about streamlining, my friends.

January’s often a quiet month for many, both in life in general but also in the workplace. And that is mostly true for me too. However, as I work on mobile apps/games for the kids, this isn’t the case as much as you might think; on top of the work we’re integrating into the app always being for the next release or two ahead (meaning December is actually the quiet month, when folks start taking their holidays and the January/February updates are in core production/integration), it’s also where
My UK PonyCon report should start publishing soon, just want to do another round of polish. I took plenty of pictures this time, so it’ll be an easier read than last year. A lot happened beyond what I’ve shared already (one panel was so tailored to me it demanded a play-by-play 
), so there’ll be plenty to sink into. Not yet sure how many parts it’ll be split across, that’ll depend on final length and good breaking points. But it’ll be a good one!

There's an audio clip circulating around YouTube that is from an upcoming episode of Steven Universe Future. Steven struggles to talk about his feelings to Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl. Apparently, he crushed the van with Greg in it and denies having an outburst when he's clearly having one. He needed some personal space, but the Gems know that something's wrong. He's losing control of his anger and they tried to calm him down, but to no avail. I'm just afraid that he would turn into a corrupted
I am literally in the door from getting back from UK PonyCon, and am still reeling from what a great experience it was again. Not perfect, but undeniably great. And I am not a heavy con goer (or really a con goer at all), nor do I like large crowds – but one as well managed and as cosy as this, once a year? Yeah, that’ll suit me. Three years since my last one was much too long. Least I can finally move past hesitating for last year’s one and regretting it ever since.
This show is pretty good and funny and the story is interesting. Overall, I give it about a 10-ish/10.
September really is a rather quiet month once you’ve no new year of education for it to mark. Not close enough to the holiday season for the media blitz to start (sans the last week, of course, and not just in the world of MLP), hardly anything at the cinema* or in gaming (I’m sure Splatoon fans would like a word on that), rarely any big intended events – not like the Queen planned to kick the bucket last week – and so forth.
