We are in a liminal state.
G5 of pony, while teased, is at least several months away. In turn, this kind of reminds me of the gap between Season 1 and Season 2 of Friendship is Magic, nigh on ten years ago. It was a strange time, in which people latched onto whatever bits of fanon they could-- or, better yet, they made it a point to develop their own. This was the period that brought us stuff like Octavia and Vinyl Scratch being shipped together (despite the fact they hadn't shown up in the same episode, or even gotten actual names) and, uh ... Trixie eating Pinecones? I want to say that was Blueshift's fault.
Regardless, it was a period in which adrift fans looked for anything to latch onto. And, indeed, we are in a similar situation as we speak.
BUT.
I am happy to at least offer a temporary distraction, in the form of CAPTAIN YAJIMA, your new favorite anime. Seriously. It's wonderful. Watch below.
Unfortunately, no more Captain Yajima episodes have been uploaded to the internet (yet).
Though if you're in the mood for more Japanese people yelling at each other, I heartily recommend Seven Souls in the Skull Castle, which is on Netflix-- but I can't find a good trailer for it on the youtubes. Still, if a title like that doesn't sell you, I dunno why you're even following me in the first place, ya nerds.
Using Blender to recreate Thunderbirds-grade puppet animation... It's a thing of beauty and wonder. They even put in the visible strings!
And yes, the liminal periods of pony are always strange times.
Man, who did come up with Trixie eating pinecones? c.c I always associated it with Sethisto, but that's probably just because he was a raving Trixie fanboy back in those days.
That is wonderful in a very particular way.
