Happy friday the 13th
Since the Magic shorts aired in the middle of Season 7, thought I'd include my thoughts on it in the Season 7 blog too.
0/10 - AWFUL (unsalvageable, nothing to be gained from watching it, never should have been made, wouldn't recommend to anyone, completely butchers an important subject/teaches a horrible and downright toxic moral)
Often in my life, I am asked the question: "6&7, which Doctor is your favorite?"
To which there is one obvious answer: "NO! NO NO DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE BETWEEN MY PRECIOUS TIME BABIES PLEASE PLEASE NO NO NO-OO-OO!" I then run away sobbing into the night. This can often take an extremely long time, because this is usually a question I'm asked during the day. (Pro tip: Run east. It turns to night slightly sooner there!)
0/10 - AWFUL (unsalvageable, never should have been made, wouldn't recommend to anyone)
1/10 - HORRIBLE/BORING (tedious, hurts to watch, a bore, no reason to watch him/her, whatever positive things about him/her are tiny and not enough)
2/10 - VERY BAD (slightly less terrible, maybe there were one or two things you liked kept him/her from being a 1 but still very painful)
Nightmare Moon
Pros: Well developed yet open to interpretation, (eldritch horror or knight templar?) strong visual design, interesting goals, seriously heartwrenching
Cons: Undermines self, hamminess hard to take seriously at times

Discord
Pros: Incredibly charismatic, pretty funny depending on the writer, rather competent, interesting goals
Cons: Conceptually flawed reformation, villain decay, humor sometimes makes him difficult to take seriously

So Estee did a thing last week that I thought was a cool idea — sift through your own back catalogue and rank your own stories from best to worst. I found it interesting as a reader to see where the author's opinions differed from mine — so I figured I'd spread the idea and post my own rankings, along with bonus commentary on why I felt the way I did!
Alright, people, before I even attempt to sift through our vast backlog of candidates, I've got to define what a badass actually is. Which is funny because the term's flexibility is such that, normally, you'd get away with not defining it at all. Because we all know a badass when we see one, don't we. You might disagree all the same when I name names, and say 'WHAT?! HOW?' a bunch.
The Cutie Map - 5/5
A strong opener with a unique antagonist and a somewhat more complex story than the prior premieres and finales, and does a good job introducing the new mechanic of the Cutie Map.
Castle Sweet Castle - 5/5
An impressive episode with genuine emotion, that goes a long way toward helping me not hate the new castle.
Bloom And Doom - 4/5
