Twilight groaned as she read through the latest form she had to review. She drooped deeply as her tired eyes focused on the lines of the text... But they were beginning to swim before her.
"Nnnngh... No... Gotta keep... Going," she mumbled.
Shepherd sighed and picked Twilight up. She began to squirm.
"Nnnnoooo! Let me go! I have work to dooo..." Twilight moaned. Shepherd shook his head and carried her to her bedroom. He kicked open the door, walked in, and set her down on her bed.
"You need sleep," Shepherd stated flatly, "you need to rest."
"But I need to finish my work!" Twilight protested. Shepherd sighed.
"You need to rest," he stated. Twilight began to power up her magic, but Shepherd grabbed her horn. She gasped and her eyes crossed.
"No. None of that," he scolded. "You sleep. Now."
"But-But-But-" Twilight tried. Shepherd heaved another sigh.
"I'm going to have to hold you until you sleep, huh?" Shepherd asked. Twilight went bright red.
"I-Well-I mean-!"
Shepherd turned off the lights. He returned to the bed, then laid down next to her. He held her tightly from behind. He cuddled up to her, keeping her close. Twilight sighed.
"Are you going to do this every time I work late?" She whined.
"Yup," Shepherd said.
Twilight hid her sleepy smile. Just as planned...
