The One Official FimFiction Google Doc, and the Nuggets Contained Within · 10:57am Jun 20th, 2021
I've been having fun exploring weird nooks and crannies, and look what I found in https://www.fimfiction.net/chat : an IRC Chat rules guide on Google Docs

This linked blog on looking for editors from WanderD is fucking gold: https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/25435
Not everybody wants to hear about which member of the mane cast has the best vagina or whatever.
Yes, that's part of official FimFic rules.

SPECIAL BONUS!
If you read this far, thank you so much for reading the rules! Here’s a fun little secret as a reward: Head to any story or chapter on the FiMFiction site, and type out the Konami Code on your keyboard (no Start button needed). Have fun~
I couldn't get it to work, but maybe you can? Have fun!
On a separate note:

Shut up you're not my mom >:(
Also this FimFic Ad grossly overestimates my age and ability to function: i.ibb.co/5hXNKSK/image.png
Also according to Knighty in the Discord Chat, try these "cheat codes" as well:
the other cheat costs still work

Lol who the fuck is specifically downvoting every comment of mine? Reveal yourself coward!

I've never gotten the Konami code to work either, but this is great. :D
5538166
...Oh. Well. Oops.
...I'm mean, I've been doing it for years now, though. And that was from back in 2011. So maybe FIMFiction is okay now?
Goes poking around in the source code
The codes in

5538177
do appear to be the full set.
Interestingly, the Konami code is still detected, but the callback when you type it is
function(){}
, which doesn't do anything. I don't know what the body used to be, but I guess someone removed it sometime in the 6 years since the "Last Notable Revision."Because it's picky about the exact
keyCode
that was pressed, the telephone number only works using the digits across the top of the keyboard and not the numpad, which is a shame because I can use the numpad without having to keep looking between the keyboard and the screen where I'm reading it from. Although I'm sure some IT crowd fans could recite the number from memory as easily as I could the square root of 546 or the number of blades of grass in Sweet Apple Acres according to Spike.5538775
Which episode had Spike proclaiming the number of blades of grass at Sweet Apple acres and what was the number?
5538914
Spike At Your Service, wherein Spike decides he owes AJ a life debt. One task she comes up with to keep him busy is counting the grass, for which he returns the answer 24,567,837.
5538944
Aaah. I've only watched that episode once because while it includes a few gyms on the whole it's a hot mess so I'm not surprised I forgot about that. Thank you.
5539084
Aye, it's one of my least faves too. It's a prime example of a tendency I've noticed in Spike-focused episodes, especially early ones, for him to take hold of the idiot ball and run with it, despite how competent he appears in episodes where he isn't the focal character.
I actually only really know the number because it is referenced in a (very rarely used) rule of the MLP collectable card game, which states that an infinite loop of effects can be aborted after it has repeated 24567837 times.
5539142
lol that's fucking great. I love little easter eggs like that. About every other month I declare to myself and anyone I happen to be talking to that I'd like to get back into the MLP TCG and then promptly don't, probably because I have a hard enough time getting things done and bills paid without spending hundreds of dollars and hours on a niche card game.
EDIT: So I just ran the math, and if Spike managed to count four blades of grass every single second 24 hours a day without taking any breaks, it would take him 71 days to count all the blades of grass.
EDIT EDIT: The average square foot of grass has 3,000 blades, according to the Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. So assuming (a very unrealistic assumption) that all the grass in sweet apple acres is concentrated in a lawn-like density, it means Sweet Apple Acres has 8189 sq ft. of grass, or a pinch less than 1/5 of an acre.

I've seen the "how many acres is that" calculation done before. I've been assuming Spike did a poor job of counting and SAA probably has more than 0.2 acres of grass, although it is better known for apple orchards than grassland. I've never thought to ask how long it would take to count though. 10 weeks before accounting for food and rest breaks? That's a lot of time to spend counting grass! That's enough time to let's see, 4M words, FimFic estimates 15k/h, find a calculator... read Austraeoh 6.4 times!
While it still takes as much time, the good news is you can play the CCG online without spending any money at all. Also, Enterplay stopped making the game commercially a couple of years ago and handed over all card layout assets to Commentary is Magic, who are continuing it as a fan project. So the two latest sets (and the next one is well on the way) are free to print your own copies of for playing in person.
Oh that's so fucking cool how they handed the assets to a fan group! Horray for sort of leftist ideals in action! Maybe I'll try playing online again one of these days. I just know I'd be more likely to try the pony game again than getting into magic the gathering which all my nerd Friends Play just because magic is way too overwhelming for me I mean you're talking about tens of thousands of cards I prefer a little more manageable and comprehensible than that
