Song for the print-edition CSP... · 12:03am Apr 29th, 2021
I don't intend to edit the FimFiction version, so...
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
Of our very own
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
Not a lease or loan
We're gonna fly and flip and soar
Play tag and catch and so much more
We'll laugh until our sides are sore
In our Fun Machine!
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
All shiny, bright and new
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
It's the pony thing to do
There's no need to cry or whine
Just step up and form a line
Everything will be just fine
In our Fun Machine!
A modern lair's just not a lair
Your hive will be just nowhere
Your life is pure despair
Without a room full of blowing air
And we think it's only fair
Returning to our pied-a-terre
To have a wind tunnel there
To relieve our every care
And we don't mind to share
'Cause the people everywhere
Know no joys can compare
To a real-life, genuine, actual Fun Machine!
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
We're gonna get a Fun Machine
Twilight Sparkle made a deal
So you know the facts are real
Oh how great we're gonna feel
When we get our Fun Machine!
(EDIT: The version in the book has been tweaked for better scansion.)
Print edition?
I've been in a fun machine (indoor skydiving). I don't regret it but I never want to do it again.
Is there an existing tune to which this should be sung?

Please sir, may I have a print run?
How is the print coming along?
5508947 Not especially. The tune in my head is pretty simple, musical-style.
5508953 Currently editing the text, hence this post. Four new interior illustrations are in hand, and finalization of the cover depends on getting exact proportions when I send in the print bid request.
I think for changelings, it would go more like:
"We're gonna get a Fun Machine, We're gonna get a Fun Machine, We're gonna get a Fun Machine, We're gonna get a Fun Machine..."
Occupant could not carry a tune with handles or remember more than a few words at once, but there was a certain volume to the words, and an impact with each repetition that made Chrysalis consider the old Flea booster with a lawn chair on top, and a few hundred feet of rope to tie up the singer.
"Verse fifty-seven!" he called out from down the hallway. "Sing along with the chorus."
She picked up the budget and studied carefully. Just one Fun Machine was cheaper than therapy after all.
Hah, nice. :D
5509024 The actual line in the edit will be: That settled it. One could ignore the quiet grumblings of the mob with relative safety, and one could resist the shouting mob if they knew what they were doing, but only a fool stood in the path of a singing mob complete with spontaneous choreography, key modulation, and jazz hooves.
We, are off to buy a machine, a wonderful machine of fun.
Is this set to the tune of an easily-linkable youtube video?
5509985 No, but the tune in my head for it is very simple and childish. March tempo.

Since it appears that it may have gotten buried in the story comments, I noticed that in the Appendix, there's an entry for Gerry Goodmane, but there's no entry for Tymbal. Might want to fix that if there's still time.
For quick reference, Tymbal's first appearance was in Chapter 14: Mission R4: CEO and Chief Bottle Washer (see footnote 358), and he got his title as the Voice of Mission Control, Horseton in Chapter 15: Mission 22: We'd Be Happy With Any Data at All, Really.
5510109 I saw that, and I'll get round to it.
For some reason my brain keeps trying to overlay the words onto the tune of "When I'm home" song from The Maretian...
