I know rewrites aren't technically allowed, but someone should definitely do something with this kind of setup. Epic Alternate Universe Star Wars/MLP crossover with characters that mimic that of the original series? That is big brain stuff right there.

I ended up thinking about this for some reason. So, some actual thoughts:
Discord should be Jar Jar Binks, except explicitly go all the way into the "Jar Jar was the real Sith Lord and Palpatine was just a patsy"-theory.
Applejack as Han Solo implies the Flim Flam Brothers (her canon rivals) as Boba Fett. This makes no sense whatsoever, which also makes it brilliant. The Flim Flam Brothers pretend to be the most dangerous bounty hunters in the galaxy to scam the Empire but somehow accidentally succeed.
Fluttershy and her animal friends are obvious replacements for the ewoks. If Spike is C-3PO, it fits even better (her initial obsession with him on their first meeting paralleling the ewoks belief that C-3PO is their god).
And Capper would be the perfect Lando, yes.

I know it is bad form to just straight up contradict the OP, but Starswirl should be Mace Windu (stubborn jerk who causes massive problems and ruins everything because he just can't stop being a stubborn jerk all the time) and Clover would be a better Qui-Gon.
