First, a warning: if you'll rather be surprised by the length the Caught and Punished story will be, don't read more. There aren't going to be any real spoilers, so there will be none of that. You have been warned(?)
Now, as my friend Donnnnn can tell you, I can be bad at projecting the length of chapters in longer stories. Originally the story When Dating a Sunset... was -- get this -- projected to only be about 5 or 6 chapters, and it ended up being 18(!) chapters. I STILL don't know why I projected the number of chapters for that story to be so low, even with the fact that I added more things as the story went.
Anyway, let's get to the real point of this blog. First, my initial projection of the number of chapters of Caught and Punished was 9-12. I was SO wrong with that guess. There are several key moments that are still coming, three of which came after the 9-12 estimated chapter length. So that, added with the fact that the timing of most of the events is a little later then I initially thought and it created a snowball effect, means that the projected number has gone up. In fact, the name of the story is going to be on the irrelevant side, though you probably guessed that already at this point. Even if I really wanted to change the name, I can't think of something else that could be catchy, so the story's name will stay the same. At least the thumbnail will continue to fit the story.
But now to the most important part of this blog. Things could change, but here's the current estimated length for Caught and Punished. The average chapter length (up to chapter 10) is about 3,700 words, so that plays a role in the word count estimate.
Estimated chapter count: 22-27 chapters. If I had to pick a single number, I'd say 24 chapters.
Estimated word count: 80,000-105,000
So, yeah, this story is going to be a little longer than I thought, without seriously rushing things to get to the end quicker. Hope you like long stories! That length makes me wish I could update twice a week, not once a week at the fastest. But with the time I spend not just writing but editing, as well as working on other stories, once a week updates is as fast as I can go while still making sure the quality of each chapter doesn't take any hits and/or risk burn-out. I know some in the comments have assured me that the once a week updates, or even once every 2 week updates, is okay, but still.

I agree, once a week is fine. And the story length doesn't bug me; I'm always hungry for more! I read a 141 chapter story called A Little Loopy by FaelaArts, so I'm fine with 22-27 chapters.
I also read it in two days. I am cursed with being a fast reader.
