So like, it’s probably not a big secret that I like writing about sex. I have eighteen stories published now, and ten of them involve characters having or considering sex (eight of which have sex prominent enough to warrant the sex tag). But I’ve never written a clopfic, never really been interested in doing so. But... now I think I am. I’m not committing to anything here, but I do want to talk about that, in part to ask if anything like this has been done already. Keep in mind this blog post is talking bluntly about porn.
I guess most importantly for me, my whole reason for maybe wanting to write this is that I don’t know of any stories quite like this, but here’s the thing: I don’t really read clop. I’ve tried it a few times, but literary descriptions of sex usually bore me (yes this means it’ll probably be hell to try and write lmao, but that’s a problem for future me to deal with right now). I love the build-up to sex, I love seeing why it’s happening and how the characters react to one another and all that, but the actual mechanics of the act (in word form) leave me bored. That’s shown somewhat in how I write: a lot of buildup to sex, it’s a frequent topic for me that (I feel) adds to my stories, but then it’s fade to black before it actually happens. Because, see, genuine connections between characters is my kink.
So here’s what I want to write: a porn story with realistic characters who interact and grow in ways that could actually happen in real life. Just, like, with a lot of sex. A lot of sex. I know clop with a plot is a thing, but (to my understanding) the plot is usually just stringing along various sex scenes or it’s more like plot with some clop. I think the best way to describe what I want to do is to describe what it’snot.
First off, this is porn. It’s not a deep story with lots of adventure and lore and all that, it’s slice of life characters fucking. It’s also not something like my romance stories just with the sex scenes shown explicitly, which would be 95% story and 5% porn. I know there are stories like that, romance stories with optional clop chapters, but that’s not what this is. The whole story would be about sex and lots of it with lots of partners, but like, all the characters would be given realistic reasons and reactions to what’s going on. The actual plot is gonna be kinda dumb and unimportant, but the characters are gonna be everything. The story I have in mind is one with character development, romance, and genuine connections, just told through lots of sex. Essentially it’s porn that takes itself seriously.
So yeah, is that a thing already? Am I misunderstanding the “clop with a plot” genre and just not giving the plot aspect enough credit? Again, I’m talking only about stories that are primarily about sex, not stories that are primarily about romance with some explicit sex stuff thrown in here and there.
While that question is the main thing here I care about, here’s the part of the blog that’s probably most interesting to you readers: what the story actually is. Again, I don’t consider this to be a particularly good plot per se, it’s an excuse for the characterization and, of course, the sex. It’s also something I’ve seen a lot of (which is how I know it appeals to me a lot lol) but I think I’m kind of approaching it from an interesting place at least.
So yeah, boiled down to the most basic, Twilight gives herself a dick through magic shenanigans and fucks all her friends. There’s like thousands of stories and images of that exact thing, and it was while reading a comic with that premise that I thought of doing this (because while I don’t read clopfics, I sure do look at a lot of horse porn and clop comics). Because see, to be extremely blunt, I’m a transwoman and I have a dick. As such, chicks with dicks are extremely appealing to me. Twilight is also the pony I relate to most, so using her is an obvious choice for me. And that’s my interesting approach: I wouldn’t be writing this as a trans story in terms of “Twilight gives himself a dick because he’s a transman”, but it’d be a story about a woman with a dick learning to own it and that it doesn’t make her less of a woman, so there is a trans vibe to it. Nothing too heavily trans, just like a story about a chick with a dick written by a chick with a dick.
I have some character stuff in mind, but I’d like to be a bit more secretive on that because that’s the real heart of the story. To say at least a little though, there’s an endgame ship planned, there’s some romantic drama with Twi’s crush, and there are characters feeling different ways about their sexuality. On that note, it’s also a story of Twilight coming to terms with her own sexuality. She starts off unsure about the fact that she’s having sex with her friends, judging herself harshly for what she feels is wrong of her, and growing into a more sex-positive person with a healthy knowledge of her interests and desires. So yeah, catch me writing porn with angst 
So I guess first off, I want to know if this type of story (realistic character-driven porn) exists, and secondly, I want to know if people would be interested in reading it. I’ve long believed I can’t write appealing sex scenes (explicit ones, not my fade to black thing I usually do) and I also have limited time, but like, I think this is at least something I’d like to think a bit more about and see how others feel on it.
I always say there is a difference between having sex and making love. Whenever I write a story I always keep that in mind. Are the two characters about to FUCK or are they about to LOVE. that's the key difference. Fucking is purely instinct. No real thought put into it just acting on impulse and desire. However loving is a process. It should be a slow but steady burn that burns hottest when the actual sex starts happening. For example in a story I am working on right now; Rarity and Adagio are together and whenever they have sex and Adagio is the one starting it? It's them fucking, doing what they want based on a carnal desire felt in the moment.
When they make love its based off existing emotions and desires that have festered and built up for awhile.
So yeah its tough finding a happy medium between the two but I am sure you will find it and I will happily help if you need it
I'd say go for it? I agree that writing about sex is way more interesting than just writing sex, and that the "pony has dick and fucks all her friends" 'genre' is way overdone, so there's plenty of room to do it better. I kind of wrote an attempt at that myself, except it was trying to subvert the template more than do it well. :B

I agree and feel the same way. This story would absolutely feature both, and that's the kind of thing that I'm actively excited to explore. I love sex as a subject matter, and I love the different facets of sexuality, and I'm very much looking forward to exploring that more heavily

I think I'm leaning towards doing it. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have posted a blog post about it if I wasn't, which means I was probably looking for people to tell me to go through with it, so your answer is very helpful
And I'm curious, what story did you do to subvert the trope? Even if as you say my goal is more "do it well" then to subvert, I still might give it a read
I'm not sure if it's quite what you're going for, but Salvation might be something like what you're looking for? I suppose it's a little less about porn than what you're going for, but it's at least pretty heavily about sex, especially for Rarity's part of the story.
EDIT: Oh, and I realize Wintermist's Friendship is Mind Control fics are pretty much exactly what you're going for (assuming I'm interpreting you correctly).

You could look up Feels Like the First Time by Carcinogeneticist and of course the classic Romance Reports by SleeplessBrony.
Neither has a futa thing going on as I recall but may be worth reading though Romance Reports does have a plot but also a lot of sex with a lot of characters and the sex is used to reveal things about the characters.

I've been workshopping the story since making this blog post and it's changed in scope a bit. Twi's no longer sleeping with all her friends, just three of them (giving everyone the spotlight was just gonna make the story way too long to make it all meaningful). But yeah, if you feel like popping into the After Dark channel some time, I've been talking about it there.
