I know it is a bit early to think about, but I am having a writing conflict.
I wanna ship Nicholas with a mare, she will become the future mrs Claus, but I am not sure who to pick! :( I thought about Rarity, but I am not sure if that would work out.
Who do you think should be Mrs Claus? One of the mane six, or maybe a whole other pony, like the royal sisters, or somepony more common like, like Derpy for example?
1: Fluttershy: Element of Kindness. I see her work out great, she is gentle, sweet and likes the quiet life with animals.
2: Applejack: Element of Honesty. Again, I can see them work out too, both of them work hard, but she has the farm and all.
3: Rarity: Element of Generosity. I like her because of her element, Santa is generous, but I think you could pin any element on him and they would stick. I could see this work out and be fun, but wouldn't she miss the town life and her shop?
4: Twilight Sparkle: Element of Magic. This I am very split about, her becoming immortal would help, but since they would all become that if they marry Claus, it does not matter. But that might be fun to explore, but I am not sure to be honest.
5: Pinkie Pie: Element of laughter. This one is a though one, I actually don't see them work as a couple, I think they would get a long great, her baking skills would be appreciated, and her want to make foals smile and laugh, so in that regard they might mix well, but then again, she is wild.
6: Rainbow Dash: Element of Loyalty. I don't see them mix to well, not because they would not like each other, but I think she would be to wild to appreciate the quiet living.

Celestia? Nah, I think them having met when he was just a baby would ruin that. Sees her maybe more like an aunt, but not impossible.
Luna might be an interesting choice actually. Both of them work at night after all ;)
Anyway, PLEASE give me your thoughts, I would REALLY appreciate it.

On the Rarity option, you could think of it along the lines of people getting clothes for Christmas. She could put her drive into making those clothes as grand as possible, especially if, as she continues down the years of immortality, she doesn't feel as connected to ponyville and such places as her loved ones pass on.
Sorry, made that a little on the melancholy side. But is an unfortunate side effect of becoming immortal when others don't.

Well, I been thinking about all of that too. Making clothes, not just as gifts, for the elfs even. And yes, the immortality did also cross my mind. Though you see my dilemma right? There is a lot that could fit here, and I don’t know which direction to go yet.

Honestly not sure and yes I do see the dilemma. I was looking at Rarity because of your lean toward her in this blog post. I also agree that many of the pairings could work and the immortality part will always throw in its own issues no matter who you choose. But I can see why you were leaning toward Rarity and how she would work. She could also bring her skills with style and colour to the toy designs. I can also see how Fluttershy would work.
I would see Applejack as missing her family far too much.

You may, unfortunately have to let them grow organically for a bit. If it were me, using the thoughts you have been giving, I would be choosing between Rarity and Fluttershy then thinking about which of the two works just the little bit more in the scenario.

I know one has in one of my stories. Never designed one of the extras as a love interest character, but I am now dealing with the fallout from him and one of my main group playing so well off each other.
To be honest, I don't know what to choose. They are perfect to match for Nicholas. It depends how the story goes which, of course, you wrote it.
