Faster Updates or Longer Chapters? · 5:50pm Mar 31st, 2019
Quick question for my Dysfunctional Families Hunt the Undead readers: I can potentially divide upcoming longer chapters into normal-sized ones, allowing me to get them out faster while still ending each chapter at a reasonable stopping point (if potentially with a cliffhanger). Or I can publish all the writing together to make for longer chapters (that cover their entire event) with slower updates. Which would you rather see? I kind of lean towards shorter chapters so I can keep up the near-biweekly updates but I want to hear your takes.
If you can give each chapter an organic beginning and ending, I say split over lump.
Lengthy chapters are good for exposition, but short chapters build interest better. Really it’s up to you, but it would depend on what’s going and how easily you can get away with cliffhangers.
Yeah if you can make the shorter chapters feel natural then by all means go with them. In the end though go with whichever is easiest for you.
Whichever is closer to the standard length for the story, if possible.
I personally like longer chapters over shorter ones. But if you do go for the short chapter option, the size of your latest chapters would be ideal.
Longer chapters, please.
What would you say is a normal sized chapter though? 4k words? 6k?

For this series? Like 2k-4k. This ain't Hemmingway. :P

I'd say keep it one big chapter then.
I know I’m late, but I say split it.
