The Signal Boost For The Writer Who Doesn't Need Such Things · 10:10pm Mar 12th, 2019
totallynotabrony is, in a very real sense, the reason I write ponyfic. His service comedy We Rent The Night with its sardonic, sly, tricksy Lunar Guard ponies reminded me so strongly of Glen Cook's cynical military fantasies in their lighter moments, that it led directly to my writing a pastiche style crossover of The Black Company. He followed up that excellent story with the equally excellent Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes. By the time he started working on the final installment of the 'trilogy', I had the privilege of kibbitzing over his GDocs shoulder. It's now complete, and he's in the process of releasing Return the Night, or no Deposit.
Now, if there's anybody on the site who doesn't need my boosterism, it's totallynotabrony. Likewise, many of you probably first heard of me from when he was talking up a justifiably obscure wee babby writer with a long-winded mercenary-cult military fantasy, and I suspect a lot of you are already followers of his. But nevertheless, I'm doing it anyways. Go read!
Well, I'm not sure I had heard of these works, but they look interesting and have your recommendation, so... onto the reading list the first entry in the series goes! Thanks! :)
The signal boost was totally worth it. His stories seem to be just my cup of tea... and I hadn't heard of them.
Much appreciated. Going to download them now!
