Features, Lighting the Fires, and More EU Shenanigans - Nyronus News Roundup · 1:11am Feb 1st, 2019

So, thanks to things happening rapidly all at once I went from needing to make one blog post to probably wanting to make three, so I had a brilliant idea-

Combine all the topics which will be of wildly different levels of interest to different people into one confusing mess!

Part 1: Intricate Disguise and There's Really No Way To Be Funny About This

I don't know how to set this up and continue the upbeat tune I had going here, but Intricate Disguise is what we'd academically refer to as "deep in the shit" and needs help. Their entire family has been hit by a string of costly disasters, they're basically the only breadwinners left in the household, while juggling university, and they'd need thousands of dollars to stabilize. I don't think any of us have it, but if you're a fan who's unaware or just a kind soul with money to burn, they go into more detail in the blog post and provide links to ways you can help financially support them, so, please, go check that out.

Part 2: Romanian is the Hero We Deserve

You know the drill, the EU Copyright Directive situation changes, I link DeFranco:

So, the long and short is that apparently what a trialogue is the EU, after publicly debating and voting on a bill, goes behind closed doors and decide what it's actually going to be, and Romanian was set to host the trialogue process for the Copyright Directive, buuuut everyone pulled out in protest and Romanian canceled the entire thing, leaving the deal dead in the water until it can be rewritten. This ties into the next point of order - parliamentary elections are fast approaching. Which means unless they can rush through a new bill that doesn't make everyone Brexit like there is no tomorrow, there's a chance to vote out as many of the chucklefucks who passed this shitshow and replace them with creatures with actual souls. So, for those of you in Europe, consider this another chance to once again remind your MEPs what the people they are supposed to represent actually fucking want, and keep an eye on your MEP elections and the candidates because this could actually be important.

Assuming the EU doesn't implode due to rioting or become subsumed into a Franco-German superstate in the meantime.

Part 3: I Got One Hell of a Surprise This Morning

So, a little after my alarm went off this morning, I groggily dragged myself into the conscious world and had a thought to myself while still in a semi-dreaming haze.

"It's been a while since I sent Teacher and the Hippogriff to Equestria Daily. It usually takes them a month, so I guess I should be getting something from them soon."

Then I rolled over, grabbed my phone, and brought up the EQD app as part of my morning EQD-Discord-Tumblr-Reddit wake-up ritual and, uh, this was staring me right in the face.

Turns out they emailed me to tell me everything was basically kosher on the first pass at ten-ish last night and I didn't notice because I was too busy playing Smash.

So, yeah, that was cool.

------

Anyway, that's it for the emotionally dissonant mix of topics and subjects I wanted to cover. I hope each and every one of you are doing as well as you can, and I'll see you all around.

I can't wait for the confusing mess of comments this post will generate.

Thanks for the signal boost for An Intricate Disguise, and congratulations on getting the story on EQD. :)

Congratulations on 'Teacher and the Hippogriff'!.

Yay!

If you check the story's stats page, you can see that, after 7 years, most EQD readers still don't have fimfiction accounts.
