Thwip Out (Spider-Man PS4) · 9:36pm Oct 1st, 2018

I beat Marvel's Spider-Man at 3:48 Central time this afternoon.

The end credits are still rolling as of 4:24pm.

I'm not joking.

I won't spoil anything about the endgame, or the ending. Just...

It's a rare video game that makes me break down in tears with its ending.

I cried pretty much nonstop through the entire final series of cinematics.

Also, I love how the stinger was done in MCU style.

Also also, nice setup for Green Goblin in the next game...

So...I don't have 100% completion on like, ANYTHING except Skills and Bases. I have all but one suit unlocked, just not purchased, ditto with suit mods, and I've still got a buttload of Taskmaster stuff to take care of, some side missions, research labs, and FUCKING PIGEONS, but I'll take care of that stuff here and along as I wait for the first DLC chapter, which comes out in three weeks.

I'm not sure when I'll do a second full playthrough of the game because I kind of need to devote time to a bunch of other things right now, but I have a feeling I won't be able to resist for very long.

Don't worry the ending totally made me cry too.

Well I guess I'm getting this. Already looked cool but the reviews make it sound fantastic.

SERIOUSLY!? :ajbemused: After my big PSA about unmarked game spoilers NOT THAT LONG AGO, you go and do THAT?! Goddammit, man, check yourself. Also, the Arkham games are kind of on my short list of games I've never played EVER to tackle next/early 2019 and you just dropped a MASSIVE, MASSIVE ENDING SPOILER for the ENTIRE TRILOGY, so...seriously...if PMs were working, I'd be tearing you a new asshole ten ways to Sunday for that. Thanks a LOT, man.

It is one of the most amazing gaming experiences ever.

I’be already played through the game twice now. If this was one of the Spider-Man movies it’d be in the top three.
It’s been suggested that this may be the first in a MGU (Marvel Gaming Universe). If future games are as good as this one I’d be first in line.

4946661 Sorry, I didn't know.

It should've been common sense, man. You should have recalled me posting a PSA about this very thing not two weeks ago.

4946739 Well I'm sorry, but there was no need to single me out with a second PSA. I feel ashamed enough as it is.

Personally, I think it's Sony's way of reclaiming a bit of Spiderman. The MCU has practically absorbed the movie character at this point. There's serious spin-off potential though. Silver Spider is already being featured in the Spider-Geddon comic event, alongside a few other Spideys. He could even get his own comic line if things turn out well.

The finale of this game was absolutely one of the best, most involved and moving experiences I've had with a superhero story. Rarely have I been so moved by a Spider-Man story, when I saw Peter at Aunt May's deathbed. Damn, Yuri Lowenthal deserves a freaking trophy for his performance in that scene, and in the entire last battle with Doc Ock. :fluttershysad:

And that post-credits scene... Holy shit, that's how you tease a sequel...

The last time a video game ending left me like this was the ending of Portal 2. There are some video games that you finish and realize that you won't be quiet the same after playing it.

What did you think of the stinger scene revealing the Venom Symbiote ? I wonder if they had that planned in advance since the Venom film is just around the corner? I think that if this game gets a sequel it would be likely for both Venom and Green Goblin to appear, but it would be really surprising if Venom gets his very own game, albeit with Harry as the host instead of Eddie.

I'm pretty sure it was an intentional pre-planned sequel hook that has nothing to do with the timing of the movie, and simply their way of setting up the potential Big Bads of the second game if they get to make one.

I guess your right. Still though, pretty convenient timing.

I don't think a game has made me cry this much period especially since I can relate heavily to a lot of what the main characters are going through especially Otto Octavius when it comes to both his anguish as an inventor who just wants to do good and change the world for the better even when everyone else gets in his way and his struggles with a disability that impacts the body while the mind is still capable of so much more seriously I'm pretty sure I was crying waterfalls during the cinematic where he told Peter about it not to mention what happens to Miles Morales and his father god when I think about it pretty much everything in this entire game has left me with either a proud smile on my face or close to tears and to someone like me who hardly feels anything anymore that just screams high quality
