    IN WHICH HAPPY BOXING DAY!
I meant to post while it was still Christmas (CST) but as usual I’m late. I hope my few remaining readers had a lovely holiday! Here’s a song that’s been in my head lately.

Chuu is one of those who, according to her coworkers, really is just a ball of sunshine. Follow me past the jump.

    IN WHICH I LACK BURRITOS
No, really. I haven’t been by my local burrito place in a long time, partly due to my mother, so I haven’t been able to get good inspiration for another Burritoverse story. Sorry. For now, enjoy my favorite J-Pop group NiziU.

    IN WHICH SCREW DEADLINES
Hey, y’all. Been a few months. Whoever reads this, just wanted to show I’m not dead yet. Do you know NMIXX? You should.

Right. Now, where was I? Oh, I’m sure I’ll figure it out below the jump.

IN WHICH I LIED TO YOU (SORRY)
So… Turns out it's been a full year (!) since my last story. I promised a couple stories in between but failed to finish them. But at least I got my annual Mayor Mare story in. Have some Twice as penance.

More past the jump, if you're willing.

IN WHICH I LIVE… SORT OF
Hi. Been awhile. Not sure who's left to read this. I just now realized I accidentally added an "L" on my last 3 posts. Oops. Well, enjoy Sir Elton.

So, after fixing my screw-up, let's get to the meat of why I'm writing, if you'll pass the jump with me.

IN WHICH I CONSIDER A MAJOR RETCON
So much music, so little time. Here's something a little different, courtesy of this dude… except kinda not. Enjoy?

Now that I've blown your mind, onto what I planned to talk about.

I did a little more revising on my Rarity + AJ story. I want to throw in a few more lines of dialogue and perhaps some callbacks before it's fit to print. If anyone reading might be interested in giving it a look-see, let me know. I'm not happy with its pacing but I can't figure out what the story needs to not suck.

While this story and its sequel will be officially "non-canon" to Sunset's Recovery Arc, I'm strongly considering inserting a quick little Rarity-centric one-shot where we actually follow her stealing Sunset's scooter in between L&H and RVSS@4. It would take the "canon" SRA up to 15 stories, a nice round number. BUT, it doesn't really involve Sunset, although she might be mentioned and appear as a figment of Rarity's wild imagination. This story might be difficult to do as I have to consciously roll back her character because she won't have developed her crush on Sunset yet… even if the spark is there, she definitely isn't aware of it.

Even I'm not sure at what point in the arc it happened. Yes I hinted at it from the beginning, but it happened so organically (in my mind) that I can't pick a spot and say, "This is where she realized." Maybe during the timeskip between Reconciliations and Rarity's Burrito story? (this is where Rainbow Rocks occurs). I don't know. You tell me.

Now to the point of my sub-heading. We all know "Canterlot" is a horse pun on "Camelot". I never liked how Meghan McCarthy decided to keep the name exactly the same between the two worlds -- it makes my job a lot harder as Sunset often talks about Equestrian Canterlot. But after three years, I'm really not liking "Canterville". I know it's highly unorthodox to do this, but I think I want to change the humanoid city's name. Probably to Camelot, though I'm open to anything reasonable that starts with a "C".

This of course will require me going back and editing every single Sunset and Burritoverse story, but it will give me some peace of mind.

I really really really want to hear your opinion on the matter. Yes, you. The one reading this who isn't me.

On the home improvement front, the friendly Latino handyman we met a couple months ago came on Saturday to fix my front door columns. Turned out they were hollow. This was a problem because those columns are load-bearing. If I had allowed the cedar planks to continue rotting on the bottom and they'd given way, my entire front overhang would have collapsed and probably would have cost a hell of a lot to fix. SO, he jacked up the gable and stuck a couple of pine 6×6's in there to act as the actual load-bearing, then clad those with new cedar planks. Now, because the wood has been treated, they need at least a few days to "exhale" their moisture before the whole thing can be sealed and painted. Only once the wood is sealed and the paint is dry can I replace the numbers.

I'm considering getting a flagpole holder so I can hang flags that are not the Stars & Stripes. Like a Canadian Flag on Canada Day, or a Union Flag on the Queen's Birthday (and Charles's once she departs this realm), an Irish flag on St Patrick's Day, some sort of Native Resistance flag on "Columbus Day", and a Palestinian flag if I can find one -- I had friends who lived in Bethlehem and told me stories that only hardened my resolve against the IDF. And of course put out the 'Murikan Flag on the 4th of July. It would confuse the neighbours.

Today is Labor Day in the USA. Naturally, most 'Murikans work despite this because unchecked crony capitalism coupled with the systematic destruction of private sector unions since the 1960s means the very idea of a holiday is laughable for low-wage workers. I don't work, but then I didn't anyway because I'm an unhirable basket-case.

Shit, I got so wrapped up in my populist (actual populist, not whatever bullshit Trump peddles) screed that I missed my 2am window. As you may have noticed, just like with word counts in my stories, I like to post these blogs as close to a 15-minute mark as I can. Thanks to the weird way this site's internal clock works, I rarely succeed. But dammit I try!

I wish I had a scanner so I could draw a Hyrule Historia-style diagram of how my EQG continuities work together or don't.

I also wish the camera my ex left behind wasn't such a POS at taking close-up shots. Very few of the photos of my import haul are worthy of posting. I am very disappoint. I seriously need to get a new SLR to replace my c.2001 35mm film one. Sam's had one for like $450 (plus tax), but I think I'll go to the camera store first just to see what there is.

Anyway, that's all from me tonight. Seriously please answer the questions I asked above. Please?

Peace out!

I always thought Canterville had a unique ring to it. It gave your universe its own flavour, but it’s up to you if you want to change it.

Also, I see your ‘She-Wolf Unplugged,’ and I raise you ‘She-Wolf' (extended), live from the Rude Awakening tour.

As much as I love this band, Dave is undeniably awkward live, and not always the best vocalist... but dammit, he rocks that guitar like nobody’s business.

I like the Canterville name.
Plus it reminds me of the City of Townsville, which is another good memory.

If you must change it though, I can't really help with coming up with a new name. Names are not my forte, unfortunately.

What he said. Canterville works, its not an ungodly mouthful, and it honestly is kinda cute. I'd say go with it, Canon be damned.

Dang man, I hope you'll keep the Canterville name around. It's something I've gleefully appropriated for my own work, as I think it fits the setting well.

Also, I absolutely loved the Mustaine/Ellefson/Drover/Brodderick lineup that you headered with. I know that Megadeth is basically incapable of keeping a solid lineup for more than a couple years at a time, but I thought that one really had the chops to elevate Megadeth up out of any criticism that they weren't as good as they'd been with the 90s "classic" lineup. Shawn Drover in particular seemed like the coolest dude out of any of them, serving as both an ambassador for the band and literally the guy who told Mustaine to call Ellefson back. Plus, I'm pretty sure he was the guy who wrote Head Crusher, which is metal as fffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu------ :derpytongue2:

I've never seen Megadeth play live, but I'm with you on Dave being a peculiar frontman. Thing is, the dude rocks so hard, he can just about get away with it...

Don't forget your favorite House flag for the new Game of Thrones season! And as for the posts, Ack. Surprised they didn't fall already. Then again, how many hollow trees are still standing? As for the Canterville issue, I think it'll throw new readers for a loop because of how widely used it is now. I say keep it.

Lesson learned: if you’re gonna front a band for over three decades, you’d better make sure you can still hit notes like this when you’re pushing sixty! :twilightoops:

Man, I love all the different eras of Megadeth. They're like the polar opposite of your Motorheads or AC/DCs in that you have no idea what you're going to get from album to album, and it always changes. Makes for a great diversity of stuff. All very thrash-inspired, but still.

4931962
Absolutely, 100%. They’ve put out an impressive range of sounds over the years, especially when you get into albums like ‘Risk,’ or even ‘Cryptic Writings.’
All very good stuff.
