Another Bit Of Changeling Mine News · 10:14pm Apr 19th, 2018
OK, after much deliberation, as well as some good old pondering, I have made a decision regarding the question posed in the last blog post. I will be making some changes to what I think can be labeled as the “Darkned Armor” incident, mainly changing it up and removing the whole “villain because of poison” gambit I decided to play, Shining will just be a heartless bastard.
So with that said, edit’s to changeling mine have begun, so dont expect a new chapter till the fixes and edits are all in place. Till then, if you have any questions or comment, feel free to drop them down in the comments section, I always love hearing from you guys.
sounds like a good plan to me.
That sucks and a bit OOC

And it could be argued that everything done in a fan fiction is OOC, but that is neither here nor there. Even the most noblest of people can do cruel and heartless things, especially if they do not see the people they are hurting on the same level as them, and we need only look at history to find examples.

Not really some yeah and those i avoid. Fan fic can take alternnate routes and the character reacts. I saw a fic on this sight where due to a devastating dragon attack Celestia decides to kill all dragons including Spike. That stiry got downvoted so fast i think it was pulled from the sight. Removing the outside influence hirts both shining and the story. As AU as your story is there isn't enough to justify a near canon Shining being okay with genocide.
I beg you to reconsider this.
With the caveat that I missed the original blog post with the question, I gotta say... not really happy with this direction...
It just strikes me as being odd or vindictive with him to make him that way... and to imply he's always been that way. It goes against the established personality that has been shown in the show,
While normally that doesn't matter for an AU story... the idea of such a drastic alteration in personality has to be established sooner and the implications of it taken into account. For Shining to go so far off the deep end of hate and heartlessness... how far back did it go? Was he always a bastard, was he just deceiving Cadance and Twilight and everypony into believing he was noble and good?
To make him a villain, one that is irredeemable, you have to remove all noble qualities... everything that made shining armor likable needs to be gutted, otherwise your audience... unless they already hate him for some reason, will want to see him redeemed... which has been how things have been up till now and, if he isn't redeemed, it will be a needless gut punch to the audience.
Lastly... with everything else going on in the story, with all of its moving parts... turning Shining armor into a villain... without the hope of redemption, will just drag things down and distract from the other elements of the story.
Hate shining armor so I like it hope he get the snot beat out of him again.
Eh.
Sounds like one of those "Lel i was edgy and evil all along suckers!" types...
