Ok, One Last Blog Post About Changeling Mine....For A While Anyway

Well, with the few reactions I got from my last blog post, and after a bit more deliberation, I decided I need to clear something up in regards to the changes that will be made to Shining Armor in this story, mainly in regards to his redemption.

Now, not once in the blog did I say he may not be redeemed, I just said I would be making him into a heartless bastard, which in retrospect was a bit heavy handed given the context. There are many people in history who are looked upon as good people, who have done good things, but have also done some horrific things which they believed were the right thing to do, and some of them have even been redeemed of these horrible atrocities through the acts they did later in life.

And Hell, if you want show examples that show ponies are not entirely benevolent, look at Twilight Sparkle, she was willing to use a reformation spell on Discord while disregarding the ethical ramifications of said spell, or hell, look at how changelings were treated in the original show. Till Thorax showed up and redeemed his people, they were treated with fear and hostility, which could evolve into something worse given the right push.

And even if you discount that, have you all forgotten what Cadance did in this fic, because for all pretense and purposes she sat back and watched as her husband went out with raiding parties to systematically wipe out an entire species, and she didn’t say a thing despite the fact the fact that what he was doing. She didn’t know he was being poisoned, all she knew as that her husband was going out and hunting after creatures she hated, and that sat fine with her till Twilight agreed to carry Chrysalis’s child.

That being said, Shining will not be beyond redemption, but I will not be giving him as easy of an out as I did last time, he will be made to earn his redemption.
