....yeah, you're probably wanting an explanation for this one, huh
So I was in the midst of writing Fave Ship to brighten my mood and I was hit with this urge to expand on it.
Prior to the Juniper book I usually stuffed these urges down into the basement of my heart where they can't hurt anyone except me, but writing that book made me realize that I really like exploring every possible facet of my ideas, even if they take me a little longer.
So, uh, welcome to Bookish Future. Will we see more of this setting? Uh... 50/50 shot? I really need to practice the skills that come with crafting something like this, so never say never.
Anyway, enjoy! And no, don't worry, there won't be an M-rated tragic conclusion.

Will there be an M rated happy conclusion?

You're finally asking the correct questions seriously I'm so proud of you this weekend
I rather liked Bookish Future, to be honest, and wouldn't mind seeing more stories that explore it a bit more. One thing that isn't too common in EQG fics are ones that consider the possible distant/semi-distant futures in the human world that result from exposure to Equestrian magic.
*sighs* Thank God for that.

Aye!
I do hope we get to see more of Bookish Future. It seems like a very promising timeline. The mention of multiple Glimmers was especially intriguing.
Also, glad to hear my worst fears were for naught.
I like the cartoon. "We'd be the Shaboofs!" (prounounced out)

Haha yeah :D
(I am beyond hyped for Faust's upcoming run on DC Super Hero Girls. )
When I said in the blog post for the last one that I was excited for the next story from you, I didn't realize I'd be waiting so little time until it came around -- but I ain't gonna look this gift horse in the mouth (pause for laugh track). Bookish Future is a cool concept you came up with, and while part of me feels bad for bogged-down Twilight and the good boy (#RIP) that's just because I'm far too sympathetic in regards to fictional characters and I'd love to see it explored further if the drive comes to you!

If it helps, Spike's just J.A.R.V.I.S. now. First thing I wanna do if/when I ever get back to this setting is flesh that angle out, there's some good character work to be done between him and Twi with that sort of setup.
I am wholly down with more stories about catching up with the EQG cast once they're actually out of high school. That said:
I've got a few thoughts on how it comes across in this story, but it depends somewhat on whether this is intended to be straight up Jetsons-style future fantasy or a marginally realistic sci-fi take on amalgamating two worlds of magic and technology—and more importantly, whether you're really looking for any external input on the setting in the first place.

Speaking frankly, you'll know the answers to these questions when I do.
you have no idea how much i love literally everything in this journal.

Hah, that's fair. The worldbuilding wasn't the real focus here, but I wasn't sure how much thought you'd really put into it yet. Speculative near-future sci-fi and the implications of highly disparate yet still parallel worlds are subjects I am happy to chime in on if you ever want to talk about it, though.

Spike is J.A.R.V.I.S.? Does that mean...?

I haven't ruled it out.
