    Mistakes were made.

Familiarity chapter 11 keeps causing problems. I sat down the day before yesterday with the goal of pushing it a bit further to completion, and when I looked everything over I realized I'd made a terrible mistake in the planning.

    Belated Familiarity Update.

So, Familiary has been on hiatus for way longer than I hoped it would. Unfortunately, this is not very surprising considering my non-existent work ethic, incredibly fickle muse, short attention span and tendency towards procrastination. Don't get me wrong, when I do write I tend to write quite a lot. I just wish I was capable of being in that mindset for more than just, like, two months a year.

    Familiarity status update.

Well, I finished publishing act 1 of Familiarity, but I'm now out of chapters so continuing the previous update schedule is currently impossible. As such I've put the story on hiatus for now. I still don't know how much of act 2 I will bother to write before I continue. Ideally I would like to complete a decent number of chapters and continue like I have so far, but if the writing progress takes

    Familiarity, chapter 10.

In which Fang faces a terrible monster, a broken bond is mended, Rainbow does something stupid, and a rumor begins to make the rounds in Ponyville.

    TFamiliarity
Scootaloo's life changes forever when she meets Fang, a strange magician who is not what she seems. As the two grow closer, secrets are revealed. What does it mean to be a familiar?

Lorule's involved in this somehow?

Well, the song wasn't too hard to figure out, I feel. It seems to be about the speaker talking to another that is deluding themselves from the truth, hating the words of the speaker almost, and living a life like so. The speaker says multiple times that he or she could show them the light, so to speak. He could make things simple, but they are living a dying hope.

The picture seems to be the Triforce, which is segmentalized into Power, Wisdom, and Courage. I can't for the life of me find any meaningful connection between the song and the picture, but here's my attempt.

I'm presuming that our main character is going to have to have his or her world taken down. He or she will have to then embody, maybe, the attributes of Wisdom, Power, and Courage to overcome this world crashing realization, whatever it may be, to make sense of the new world.

Once again, can't say this one is easy, but the song was pretty straightforward.

You do realize I picked the instrumental version on purpose, right?

I actually tried to find a video that don't display the lyrics, but apparently there is none. :trixieshiftleft:

The Triforce is a Sierpinski triangle, but not all Sierpinski triangles are the Triforce.

You know, I'm aware that it's a lot harder when you have no point of reference, but I rather thought the meaning of the pictures would be easier to figure out than this, considering what it is we do around here.

I think it is all a matter of perspective. What may seem easy to you might not be for many people, but I'm giving it a try, whether I be wrong or not. I find it very difficult to take a song I've never heard, find meaning in the song, then connect it to the picture that I have to figure out what it is and then could mean, and THEN connect it to a story I know very little about. It's like three different levels of speculation.

After a while, things deviate most likely very far from the correct answer. I think this is where i am at. I think I have very good analytical skills myself, but I would be lying if I said this isn't testing my capabilities here.

Kinda looks like the triforce from the Zelda franchise.

Well, of course it's easy for me: I actually know what all of this means. :pinkiehappy:

It is fun to see you get so involved in this, though.

I'm sure you are plenty clever. It's just that you are trying to find big answers going by extremely limited information, and in doing so you are getting carried away and jumping to conclusions. It's a typical mistake people do when trying to solve problems: Attempting to figure everything out right away, usually without considering what the problem is.

Look, do you seriously think it's possible to figure out the plot of my story by looking at a series of abstract pictures and listening to some songs I picked off my Spotify playlist? Or, better question, do you think I'm capable arranging for that to be possible? Even if you found the secret Easter eggs, that still wouldn't be enough. The answer has to be more basic than that.

Here is what you are actually able to know:

-I've given you a bunch of symbols paired with music.
-You have already concluded that the symbols do not seem to necessarily correspond directly to anything in the songs or vice versa, and for the most part the symbols are too abstract to interpret anyway.
-However, each symbol/song set signifies one thing. That is to say, something that can be represented by both a symbol and a song. Together they form a set of eleven.

So, what you should be trying to figure out is: What is that something? What do the symbols and the songs represent?

What's going on here?

I've just been seeing this countdown in my feed.

4768819

It's counting down to the story I'm going to publish. I've been working on it for some time and it's a bit of a big deal for me, so I decided to do this as a bit of a PR stunt.

4768840
Ah.

I thought that might be what it was. Good licks on your future fic, mate!

Psst... your Triforce fell over! :twilightoops:

Also FUCK YEAH NIGHTWISH! \m/ (>,<) \m/

4768759
You're pretty much spot on. I honestly think I won't understand this until the story drops.

4768953

Psst... your Triforce fell over! :twilightoops:

Honestly, it would probably be better for everyone involved it really was a Triforce.

Also FUCK YEAH NIGHTWISH! \m/ (>,<) \m/

Instrumental Nightwish music is really awesome. (Not that I mind the lyrics, but without them it just sounds super-dramatic.)

Shudder Before the Beautiful would be my favorite, but this one is nice as well.

4768967

Not exactly what I meant, but whatever. You'll probably be disappointed anyway.

...Ah, not in the story. I meant, like, all of this. The story is awesome.

4768971
I'm sure it is. You've got me hooked, and whether or not I'm on the right track of unserstanding the meaning behind these posts, your PR stunt worked. :pinkiehappy: I guess I'm just frustrated that I'm still off the mark. Not only that, but I get the instant gratification of knowing I'm wrong because I get to talk with you about it.

It kind of sucks, but it is what it is. I love what you're doing, and I'm sure that others could do better than me on figuring out what the meaning is behind the posts, so honestly, it might be very obvious to many other people, but I'm just the most vocal wrong opinion. :rainbowlaugh: Who knows.

All I do know is that I'll keep trying to decipher what you're trying to tell me, but as we have established, I'll probably be wrong and make broad conclusions. :applejackunsure:

4768983

Funny thing is, I practically told you the key to it all in a previous blog entry, but seems you didn't see the significance.

Want one last hint?

4768997
Sure, hit me. I could use some help. Haha

4769000

What do symbols like these usually signify in My Little Pony?

4769012
Yikes, I'm thoroughly stumped. I hope I can find an answer by the time you come out with the next blog post.
