Familiarity chapter 11 keeps causing problems. I sat down the day before yesterday with the goal of pushing it a bit further to completion, and when I looked everything over I realized I'd made a terrible mistake in the planning.
See, my brain is sorta geared towards creating plot at the expense of minor yet kinda important stuff like, say, knowing which day of the week it is or how many meals one would normally eat in a day.
This can become a problem during planning since I tend to commit to plots before making sure the events of said plot taking place at all makes sense in context. I've mentioned before I ran into trouble trying to write the next couple of chapters and this is essentially why. I thought I had managed to iron it all out, however.
But it turns out I'd overlooked something that should have been obvious. Just know that this was a really stupid mistake to make. It's fixable, but the long and short of it is that I may need to change a whole scene that I had already mostly completed.

Basically, I started the chapter with a scene where Scootaloo is at school with her friends, because I needed to establish some stuff. After she returns home, I decided that the characters should have lunch, completely forgetting that lunch would have occurred during school hours. It took me months to realize this.
This probably sounds pretty minor but it's actually kinda serious since both of those scenes are important for what I'm setting up.

I can sympathise: lost an entire chapter once a few years back. Almost cancelled the fic right then and there.
