Man, Zag Animation just CANNOT. GET. THEIR. SHIT. TOGETHER. And neither can ANYONE whose job it is to actually deliver this content to the audience!
If you're not following Miraculous Ladybug news, a huge shitstorm broke out this weekend.
A brief refresher on the various problems the distribution and production of this series have faced/caused:
- In 2016, Nickelodeon had the broadcast rights to Miraculous Ladybug in the US. They mismanaged it, underpromoting it, sliding it around on the schedule without announcing the changes, and artifically creating low ratings through underhanded tactics to excuse dropping it. They eventually shunted it to Nicktoons, where the first season actually managed to air in full before disappearing from the network forever.
- Later that year, it was announced that Netflix would be the new home of Miraculous Ladybug in the US, and we got the Christmas special on Netflix and Youtube. Additionally, season 2 was announced for release in May 2017.
- April 2017 came, and worldwide release of Miraculous Season 2 was pushed back to "late summer 2017". By June, that became "Fall 2017".
- In the interim, MASSIVE LEAKS from the production staff flooded the Internet, to creator Thomas Astruc's chagrin. By the time the next delay was announced, nearly all the major spoilers had been dropped.
- October 2017: New release dates were announced globally. Netflix US was slated to get the first half of season 2 in December 2017. Late in October, episodes began to air in France, the UK, and Spain. Season 2 was finally here, and it was good.
- November 2017: A steady trickle of episodes dripped out on TFOU, Disney UK, and...whatever channel Miraculous runs on in Spain. Fans in the US eagerly awaited the December release while, of course, watching fansubbed French and Spanish episodes on Youtube.
- November 31, 2017: Zag Animation announces that Miraculous Season 2 has been pushed back to Spring 2017 in the US, but still with only half the season to start. The explanation sends a ripple of outrage through the fan community, especially as it basically amounted to "Look, we're sorry, we need more time" when the episodes were already airing in English on the other side of the Atlantic. The most open, transparent excuse was "we need to fix animation errors". Errors absolutely nobody cares about more than they care about actually getting to watch the show..
- 1st week of December, 2017: The episode "Dark Owl" premieres in Spain before it premieres anywhere else. It's a significant episode.
- Approximately December 9, 2017: TFOU announces the premiere of S2E9, "Glaciator", for 17 December at 9:15 Paris time. A popular (read: wildfire) leaked scene/rumor on the Internet explodes involving a balcony scene that the fandom is creaming themselves over.
- December 17, 2017: At literally the last minute, despite having TWICE confirmed the airdate and time of "Glaciator", TFOU airs a rerun in its place with no explanation. TF1 and Zag are SILENT on the matter. The hashtag #TFOUYouBrokeOurHearts trends globally within hours.
Take all of the above, and compare it to the recent Season 8 leaks drama in THIS fandom, as well as all the early episode airings in Canada during seasons 6-7.
There's a reason I don't give a shit about MLP leaks anymore. It's because DHX and Discovery Family don't go out of their way to FUCK US OVER like everyone involved in delivering Miraculous Ladybug to its DECiDEDLY MORE RABID fanbase.
I think im glad i have a minor interest in thos show. Dont get me wrong its good and i enjoy it. I do wish theyed get their act together but i can wait.
Heck, I didn't even know that MLP had leaks for future stuff until I read the warning message on FiMFiction, and I initially thought that was about Star Wars
. It took a trip to EQD before I clued in.
Again!? This show looks amazing but with how poorly it is handled I'm glad I'm not to invested in it. Give me MLP any day.

Trust me on this, it's better for you that way. I'm sick of watching the same four episodes over and over again.
Then again, seeing the look on Hawk Moth's face after he Akumatizes a baby is hilarious.
(And yeah, I'm also finding it really weird that it's taking this long for the US release when I know for a fact the episodes are already in English. Now you know how I feel--heck, the MLP movie just started playing on my local cinema and it's being completely obuscated by Star Wars.)

Geez, don't remind me of the time I had to wait an extra six months for the back half of season 1 of Lolirock. You guys have it easy, cartoon broadcasts are all over the place here.
