(Meta Story) An Anonymous Message From A Brony · 3:02pm Oct 31st, 2017

The following is a work of meta-fiction regarding My Little Pony and Fimfiction. Despite being presented as true, this is a work of fiction.

A user posted a message on a Fimfiction group that no longer exists. I took their message and decided to publish it in a way to document it for other folks who might run into the same issue. If you have any knowledge about this issue, please let me know...

Hi there! I just recently found this wonderful website for bronies just like me and I've been loving reading all these wonderful stories by cool people!

I'm still new to posting on this website, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post... (Maybe it's a blog?) But I wanted to ask you guys a few questions that have really been bugging me. Hopefully the mods won't strike me down for asking this... I just really need an answer.

For a little background... I'm 23 and live with my Mom. And yes, I'm a basement dweller with no job. Judge all you want, but I chose this life to help care for my sick mom. There are still a lot of things that make it worth it. I usually have a lot of downtime, get to do online courses through my community college, Mom's disability money usually helps pay for all of our expenses, and I get to spend a lot of time talking on discord servers and on Steam.

But I'm really not here to talk about me. I wanted to talk about a problem I've been having with Fimfiction. Have any of you had a story come to life? I don't mean, like, really vividly in my head. I mean, really came to life.

I was searching through the old stories on Fimfiction. You know, the stories from 2012 when it was the Wild West for story submissions? Some really weird stuff managed to slip into the website back then and the mods don't always prune the posts well. I found a story from a user who hadn't been online for a few years. They only wrote one story, then probably rage-quitted when it didn't get the reception they wanted. It's more common than you'd think.

Well, I read his story and it was just really, really trippy. I suppose you could call it a 'second person' story, but it seemed more involved than that. It was a typical romance between 'you' and Twilight. It was just supposed to be a short 10k story that I was going to read before dinner. It was fine, although I'm hardly a critical reader. The story was incomplete, which is expected of old stories, and a lot of the older writers are dead to the world, so I expected to throw it on my favorites and call it a night.

But, when I came back to my computer... the story updated. I figured 'why not' and began to delve into the second chapter.

The second chapter was way better written. On top of that, they decided to give the 'You' character a name. I was kind of entertained because the author chose my first name. Not every day that something like that happens, right? I know that for most people it would break the immersion, but I found myself really drawn in by this story. It really felt like I was talking to Twilight, getting to know her, you know? I left a comment for the author saying I liked what they were writing and called it a night.

The next morning I got up, took my pills, and noticed that... there was another update! At this point, I was really getting into the fic, so I began reading. In this chapter, Twilight figured out a spell to return the human back to Earth so she could see what his world was like. Considering a million stories had done this before, I groaned. Was the writer really running out of ideas that quickly?

That, once again, isn't the point. The author got really specific in this chapter about where on Earth the characters went to. This is where it was beginning to get weird. I don't know if they picked a spot on a map and just chose it or something, but it was my city. I mean, sure. I live in California. It's not like it's an uncommon city, but the correlations were getting really, really weird.

I finished the chapter, closed my laptop, and then went about my business and chores. I was really trying not to think about the story. It was feeling too immersive. Too... real? I realize it probably sounds stupid from the outside, and most of you probably aren't still reading, but hear me out, please.

When I sat back down at my computer later, I was getting nervous again. I shouldn't have been. It's a stupid pony story. But I was nervous that the story was going to update again.

And it did.

I debated if I should read it. Clearly the story was causing me a lot of stress. But there was one other weird thing that caught my attention. The story was now marked as completed. It was going to be the final chapter. There couldn't be any hurt in just one more chapter, right?

So, I began reading the story again. The stuff that began unfolding in the chapter made me sick to my stomach. The story was getting more and more specific about where the characters were. Twilight and I were walking through my neighborhood. I know for a fact it was my neighborhood. They described my street to the T, down to the colors of the houses and the cars in the driveway. My character froze right outside my house and said that they thought somebody was in my house. Then, it just ended, abruptly, in front of my house. The feeling was so unsettling that I stepped away from the computer and had to look outside, just to make myself feel better.

I'm trying to tell myself it's just a story and I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, but the story isn't on the site anymore. That user's profile isn't even searchable on the site now, and he's been standing there for two hours.

I'm writing to you guys because there's a man standing outside my house and I don't know what to do. Any advice? Please at least tell me I'm not crazy...

Piss on him to show dominance

I mean it would be a lot more scary if that person had a murderous intent. Sure the removal of the story and user is pretty spooky but so what if there's a person right outside of his house? I mean if this story is true then he visited equestria which is pretty dope

I mean, If i were working for the federal government and received a tip-off that an alternate reality exists, i'm pretty sure that i'd be interested in investigating the issue.

And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who's thought of that.

If this was a true story I'd probably spend hours looking for old fanfiction that was never completed. Not!
(I totally would)

Definitely fitting for the occasion.

Poor guy just wants to get out of the cold.

Great, now you got me thinking the guy repeating the 'I'm so cold line'

Happy... Screw that! Scary Nightmare Night, Priest! :pinkiehappy:

Ha!
California houses don't have basements. :trixieshiftleft:

Baby it's cold outside.

but I chose this life to help care for my sick mom.

TOO REAL CAN'T KEEP GOING.

It's knows exactly where I live HAHA OH NO~

I would be super curious how far it gets taken, like, if he had a little robo Twilight out there.
Turns out the ghost kills you and leaves you where you were left off in the story. He was found next to his front door wearing nothing but a Rainbow Dash diaper next to a Twilight Sparkle doll.

He just wants to make a friend bro, go say hi. Have you learned nothing from all this horse nonsense?

The real scary part is the fact that I've been standing outside his house for two hours trying to deliver his pizza.

Look, just because you want to ask him out does not mean you should order him a pizza. It's weird.

Great story. Clearly the author needs to go out there, murder the fellow human and claim Twilight. That's how it's supposed to end, right?
