A Health of Information S7E20 Review · 5:34pm Sep 23rd, 2017
Another Season 2 refugee, right down to The Stare coming back. Episode was meh, Meadowbrook is a thing from S5's premiere but might as well being entirely different because the backstory given here says nothing of her magic relics. And what we do get - a southern swamp witch doctor - is underwhelming.
Best parts of episode were Twilight and Spike's bakeoff, Twilight's excitement and disappointment over Meadowbrook's library, and the potential to revive the "Fluttershy is a tree" meme. Everything else just meh.
I don't know if I want to write a review on those kind of episodes, yeah I don't know
whaaaat
This episode was amazing, how dare D:Oh wait, I forgot I'm always wrong :B4676472
I think the problem for me is three-fold with this ep.
1. I don't really care for Zecora, don't dislike her but not really that excited to see her again either.
2. Zecora is basically DYING in this episode but Fluttershy only seeks help from Twilight, who is kinda nonchalant about things.
3. This is mostly just a road trip episode for the two with a legend about an ancient healer tacked on.
Maybe I'm missing something, what about the ep was amazing?
I had a lot of confusion on this episode as well. In the beginning, I was asking why Zecora was the one who needed to grab the moss in the first place when Fluttershy can fly, wondering how Zecora never encountered this flower before after all this time, and how the information for where the cure was was so difficult to find if said mare wanted to spread the information to cure many ponies. And of course the biggest question of all, how Twilight and the other didn't think to use the masks after 3 days!
One thing I did like was FINALLY showcasing that Fluttershy's Stare doesn't work on literally EVERYTHING.
When I first read the synopsis for this episode, I questioned why this was going to be a Fluttershy episode and not a Twilight episode, and after watching it, I STILL question it. Everything Fluttershy seemed to do was what I expected Twilight to do. Reading the entire library without rest, and in just seconds with each book.
Oh well. I'll still take this episode over Daring Done?.

I guess it worked to showcase her determination but yeah, Flutters did nothing for this episode. But frankly, aside from just being friends, I don’t think any of the Mane Six really have much relationship or bond with Zecora. Apple Bloom is the one I remember getting along well with her.

Apple Bloom WAS the first pony to meet and talk with her. She even helped her with mixing a brew. Twilight was just wondering why everypony else feared her. She was also the only one who knew that she was a zebra. But, just like everypony else, even Twilight believed that she was cursed by Zecora on the next day.
We have seen Apple Bloom take an interest in potion making thanks to Zecora. So yeah, that would've made more sense.
Lately I've been thinking that these recent episodes have only been happening by making others incompetent at what they do.

Well, if you're not into Zecora, that'll definitely take it down a notch.
It was amazing because she was dying, though. (Which, it should be added, Fluttershy never really communicates to Twilight, unless I'm wrong. <.< It's just "Zecora is sick, it's my fault, I need you to help me help her".) This is the first episode in a long, long time with stakes this high. Also, bayou ponies that aren't fucking stereotypes!
Honestly, I like a little bit of a change-up, we've already seen that Fluttershy has a book club. Twilight being non-chalant is what is recommended in emergency situation, you have to distance yourself and even become kind of detached, because it's easier to concentrate. Yes, from an outsider perspective it appears cold, but ask any medical professional and they'll attest to the same when in the operating room or talking to patients.
Oh yeah
Starlight Glimmer mentioned Mage Meadowbrook having 8 enchanted items in season 5
So Fluttershy's stare works on dragons but not bees. Got it.
