Greetings from post-hurricane Florida! Well, the damage to the south was heavy, but my neck of the woods made it out okay. Turns out that Irma dropped off in strength rather quickly once she got over land. In short, she wasn't ready to fuck with Florida.
Anyway, today I'm going to do something a little different. Inspired by my good friend, Crystal Wishes (a far better writer than I and a quintuple better person in general), I'm going to take part in this "Share a Smile" blog thing she's come up with. Basically, I pick a couple users I know or those who write something I enjoyed, and I put a little something about them in the blog.
So here we go.
First up, we have a friend of mine named Cynewulf. Cyne and I used to talk a little bit more than we do now, but that's mostly because she is quite busy with her career as a teacher. She's a brilliant writer who does things with wordsmithery and headcanoning that make me want to throw my laptop out the window like a frisbee because of how far out of my depth I am by comparison. In addition to that, she's a wonderful friend who is always willing to lend an ear when you've got something on your mind—be it a vague idea for a fic, some worldbuilding questions, personal issues, or you just want to goof off and shoot the shit. I've been glad to call her my friend for the better part of two years now and admit that I was tickled when I discovered that I'd somehow conned her into thinking I was a good writer.
She must never know the truth.
Next, vdrake77. Vdrake and I have chatted before, though not enough for me to actually find myself able to claim him as a friend. For those of you who don't know, he writes a brilliant serial fic called Changeling of the Guard, which actually served as heavy inspiration both in terms of Thorax's views on how strange ponies were and how it felt to be a stranger in a strange land. Funnily enough, we both read one another's "changeling attempts to pony" fics and ended up in a couple of conversations regarding a reference or two I slipped in (Yellow Ducky represent, yo) and how I might think Thorax and Idol Hooves would interact. Fun guy to chat with and a hell of a writer in terms of execution, character development, and comedic timing.
One day, I'll be able to graze the bar with my fingertips ... after using a stepladder to try to reach it.
Lastly, we have Spark. SPark, like Cyne, blows me out of the water with her words. She's a ton of fun to talk to, actually, even though she COMPLETELY TRIES TO ENABLE PEOPLE BRAINWORMING ME TO WRITE ALL OF THE SHIPS AND THEN JOINS IN THE FUN!
Ahem.
SPark's writing is an absolute joy to read and I delight in the emotion she presents in her characters. That I have to wait some time for her to update is painful, but given that she has a small child and adult responsibilities ... I'll allow it. ;)

TELL ME ABOUT IT, AIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Srlsly, I have three commissions, one collaboration and either one or three Patreon stories, depending on how you count, all of which I should be working on now. Yikes! At least I got my Appledash contest entry done in time. And all that's not counting all the other stuff I want to write! There are not enough hours in the day. If I could just figure out how to not need sleep...
