For those of you who still care, I think I owe you an explanation.

I don't think most of you are going to want to hear this. I'm going to lead with the TL;DR though.

I don't really want to continue writing, at least not on this site. Integration is, at present, on an indefinite hiatus.

    The long version:

Give me your honest opinions, please.

I've been working on the next chapter of Integration, and I have to admit that I have been less than thrilled with the reception it's been getting. At one point, a reader who I will not name posted 18 comments in a row both on Integration and on Adaptation. Each and every one of those comments was a complaint about something or another. It was the 18 comments posted back to

A New Avatar, and "Where have you been, CoAlFire?" answered.

First off, a nice shiny new avatar which I borrowed from Google Images.

If any of you can find the source for it, I invite you to please leave that information for me in the comments here so that I can give credit to the artist on my user page.

Why was it changed from the cute Echo?

Tonight, now that work is over, I shall write.

I cannot say if I will publish a chapter tonight, but I will get some measure of work done.

The analgesic and courage-enhancing effects of vitamin B (beer) have spurred me to a sense of creativity and audacity which, I hope, will enable me to write productively for the first time since my wisdom teeth began fucking my world up.

Well fuck you, pain, I don't feel you right now! Ha!

So, remember that wisdom tooth extraction a few months back? · 4:25am Jul 31st, 2017

Well it turns out it's REALLY fucked me up.

The entire time since that procedure, I haven't felt right. My bite is off, my teeth are incredibly sensitive, and nothing the dentist has done has come remotely close to helping.

Combine the fact that I've been in near constant pain and general distress for the past three months with the fact that I also have to spend 5 days of the week outside in the damnable Arizona sun for work, and this has left me with very little time or motivation to do much except eat, sleep, and dream about what it was like for my body to not be in active rebellion against me.

I don't know what the fuck happened to my mouth after that quadruple wisdom tooth extraction, but whatever it was has caused major shockwaves that still have not settled.

Before those wisdom teeth came out my teeth had never given me any trouble at all. They all felt fine. Pulled the things and all hell broke loose, like a Pandora's box of pain and discomfort.

I'm sorry for not writing more, you guys, but there's so much in life that I haven't had much opportunity.

It's okay, just get better as soon as you can.

Dang 3 months and not better sorry to hear I repeat Alicon Glactistar's sympathies and comment.

That sucks. Now I'm wondering if I should leave mine be.

Sounds like you might have nerve damage. Or possibly a fracture above or below your jawline (beyond where the dental x-rays would show).

That sucks. I would suggest even if you have to mortgage your life, go see an oral surgeon rather than your dentist

That... that's not good. There's something definitely damaged; as has been mentioned before, a damaged nerve or two, or fractures.
That needs to be checked. By whom, I have no idea, but the agony you're going through should be fixed before it causes anything worse.

I hade the same problem after just the 2 on the left ware removed.
I will give you a little advice, go to your family DR tell him and see if he will refer you to a eye ear throat specialist. depending on how long the roots on the top 2 teeth ware the problem may be deeper.(I know sorry for the bade pun)

I understand the wisdom tooth thing. It takes a good long while for your mouth to feel normal again

I recently got my wisdom teeth extracted, and one of them was in deep enough that I decided to just leave it in there. The risk of having something else happen to it wasn't worth the risk of nerve damage, in my opinion, especially since it's buried deep enough that it'll be unlikely to be exposed any time soon.

Did your surgeon go over the risks in detail before setting up the procedure?

4618714 I'm trying. Thank you.

4618749 I'm just hoping it all ends soon. I'm sick of pain.

4618756 Each situation is different. As much pain as I'm having now, from what I saw in the x-rays it would have been a lot worse down the line. Abscesses and broken roots and other awful things. In my case, even with this pain, it was the right choice.

4618758 Most of the pain that isn't in the teeth directly isn't mandibular though. It extends up through the maxilla to my zygomatic. On bad days it might migrate over the zygomatic arch to the mastoid process, but that's not very common. I hate to admit it but I'm starting to get accustomed to the pain. I still want it to go away though.

4618788 The extraction was done with an oral surgeon. All of my follow up work has been with a dentist.

4618834 Dentist seems to think this will all resolve with time but I'm going in again on the 7th.

4618861 I will bear that in mind. Thank you.

4619275 At time of extraction they said it could take 6 months or more for me to fully heal, which... I accepted, given the alternatives. I've just had a slew of other issues crop up that seem (to me, the layman) unrelated to the extractions, and it's just been one thing after another. Incredibly frustrating. Thank you for your concern though.

4619361 Oh yes. The state of things was such that even the most unpleasant side effects of the extraction were preferable to what had a very high (almost certain) chance of happening down the line if the teeth were left in place. The truth is, if I had gotten this done earlier in life it wouldn't have been so much trouble, but because the teeth were fully formed and encased in jawbone, the procedure was more intense. As long as this pain and discomfort eventually resolves itself, I will consider it to be worth it.

Yeah, I put mine off for way too long as well. I wish that my dentist had actually told me that it gets harder when you get older, rather than just suggesting that I get them out at some point.

4619671
Hmmm, I'd see if the oral surgeon does follow ups. Its not common, but that's also because follow ups, at least those that can't easily be solved by a dentist are quite rare. The one who did the job might have a better sense of what went wrong after all.

Sometimes it depends on the oral surgeon. For wisdom teeth in particular, infection is bloody high. So how good the surgeon I really matters. When I got my wisdom teeth removed (Like yours, I had a quadruple extraction with two buried sideways in my gums which meant it really needed surgery) it only took about 2 month before I pretty much could do everything because he was really good at his job. But I still had an odd bite for a while after that.

In your case though it actually might be nerve damage... Maybe muscle because the surgeon had to cut in. Mine stopped hurting after one month. This Is assuming you've done all the things to avoid a gum infection
