For those of you who still care, I think I owe you an explanation.

I don't think most of you are going to want to hear this. I'm going to lead with the TL;DR though.

I don't really want to continue writing, at least not on this site. Integration is, at present, on an indefinite hiatus.

    The long version:

A New Avatar, and "Where have you been, CoAlFire?" answered.

First off, a nice shiny new avatar which I borrowed from Google Images.

If any of you can find the source for it, I invite you to please leave that information for me in the comments here so that I can give credit to the artist on my user page.

Why was it changed from the cute Echo?

Tonight, now that work is over, I shall write.

I cannot say if I will publish a chapter tonight, but I will get some measure of work done.

The analgesic and courage-enhancing effects of vitamin B (beer) have spurred me to a sense of creativity and audacity which, I hope, will enable me to write productively for the first time since my wisdom teeth began fucking my world up.

Well fuck you, pain, I don't feel you right now! Ha!

So, remember that wisdom tooth extraction a few months back?

Well it turns out it's REALLY fucked me up.

The entire time since that procedure, I haven't felt right. My bite is off, my teeth are incredibly sensitive, and nothing the dentist has done has come remotely close to helping.

Give me your honest opinions, please. · 11:57pm Jun 21st, 2018

I've been working on the next chapter of Integration, and I have to admit that I have been less than thrilled with the reception it's been getting. At one point, a reader who I will not name posted 18 comments in a row both on Integration and on Adaptation. Each and every one of those comments was a complaint about something or another. It was the 18 comments posted back to back of negativity that finally propelled me to politely ask for him to stop. He did more than that, and apparently deleted all of his comments.

The thing is, a lot of those complaints he had about my writing were perfectly valid. I'm no Shakespeare, I'm not a master of literature. I'm just a guy who's pretty okay at writing, can type really fast, and has a passion for characters in general. My story-crafting is, I always thought, entertaining, but I know it's not bulletproof. There are plot holes aplenty, and being that all of my work is written flow-of-consciousness, sometimes a little clunky. (Yeah, fun fact, other than basic proofreading, everything you read from me is first draft.)

I've also seen a few other comments from others which have been obviously negative, drawing conclusions that were never going to be in the story to begin with.

In short, I'm feeling distinctly like people simply aren't enjoying what I write anymore, and it could just be the depression talking, but I'm really questioning whether or not I should bother continuing at all.

So please, give me your genuine opinions. Should I keep this up, or has Echo's story done everything it can and should just be allowed to quietly fade into obscurity?

O you silly pony yes need to stop paying attentions to the haters and simply wright your story the way you like it or want it to be.

in short if you stop i will send twilight velvet to find you. :scootangel:

I read the first one ages ago and while honestly it was so long ago, I can't remember plot points, I remember being hooked intstantly. I love changelings... always, and the original really impacted me. I remember wishing there was a sequel and then I do some digging, and yeah there was. It was updating at a stagnant pace but I adored it. I'm sorry I can't remember much... haven't reread it as there is so many other stories. I love motherhood fics and Scootaloo adoption stories always interested me. Please, don't let it die as this was read 3 years ago maybe even more, and I was just starting the fandom. I always kept a quiet eye on this story and hoped it would update/continue.

The choice in the end is up to you but this was one of the first changeling stories I read. It's important! My only regret is not re-reading it.

Hmm... I recall my only complaint from... well... quite a long time ago was the extended leave time between bursts of chapters. Honestly I would not have noticed that you are writing more had it not been for this blog post. I'm not complaining, but might be one of the reasons.

I do recall quite enjoying reading what you wrote all those years back. I suspect for future chapters I will also enjoy reading your content. Do I want you to stop? I'd prefer not, but "do as you wish".

I'm not going to wax poetic about it. I'll just say I'm in the 'keep going' camp.

Do you enjoy writing?
As much as I'd prefer you keep going THAT should the most important question.

The good autor first write for himself

We the readers are just lucky to enjoy those unknown worlds

Write because that world in your head demands coming to life in some way

Don't really care where the story is headed currently but I want to see how you end it.

you're fine as is. people seem to fail to realize, that not everyone writes the same, or has the same quality-and they need to suck it up and act their age. id they want to 'constructively' critical, fine. but 18 in a row? that's uncalled for. you are fine as is, please continue writing- i enjoy the works.

Write your stories because you enjoy to, not for others.

If you like writing then keep writing. Don't focus on those 11 neighsayers, just the 237 creapy stalker like freaks who actually enjoy your writing. And that person who DELETED their OWN comments when you only ASKED them to STOP sounds to me that they DO RESPECT you and your work to some point. Please keep writing.:fluttershysad:

I was hooked by the idea of the story from the start. Integration has been one of the stories I most look forward to seeing a new chapter published.

I think it would be a real shame if you stopped now.

I have been patiently waiting for this story. I check on it from time to time. Its a great story and I actually hoped that after it was finished. The possibility of hard cover versions may be possible?

Coal, people are weird. What matters is you learn from your mistakes. Take what he says as well... criticism, but if you let yourself get weighed down by it, you should ignore it because then you can't write, and your priority as an author, and someone who likes to write, is to write.

Also, if they're being dumb, you have every right to go "chill dude" or "say it, and bugger off."

I mean, just look at my stories... especially the sequel of my big one.

That... is exceptionally high praise.

I'm pretty sure I'd run into massive legal problems trying to *sell* those though, so I'd probably need to get them to people at cost, assuming I could even find a way to get it made into a hard copy.

But thank you for that little bit of encouragement. It definitely means a lot.

The history is funny and entertaining, it would be a real pity to be left unfinished. If they want to give constructive criticism, its okay. If they want to pester you an your story, you can ignore them and leave them to put their stuff up on their backsides

It would have to be at a straight price, but when there is a will there is a way. I just hope to see this story for a long time. To many great stories fade away. The time that is put into this story is noticed and the idea behind it is what sets it apart.

I am not the best at wording things right now, but I will give it a shot. Though yes your stories have some issues, as you said yourself your not Shakespeare. Saying that though I have never sat for 18hrs reading Shakespeare. I enjoy your work alot, it has a charm all its own. And I also hope to see your work for along time to come

We've been working through our notification backlog (1011 updates OMG) and noticed this blog post.

First and foremost: Don't write because others tell you to. You should write for you, because it pleases you.
There will always be some (sometimes many) that will be a downer, but know that at the very minimum 244 people on this site have upvoted your story (just this one alone!) and who knows how many added it to their faves list (We have!). So, some may get lost in the comments arguing back and forth and making a ruckus, but you should focus on you and what this story (and possibly others) means to you, and update if and when you like. Like being the operative word.

I for one think there's much story to tell, but be careful not to lose the forest for the trees. You've introduced a lot of chaos and it needs resolving as we go along.
