I had a cat that did the same thing. We got rid of every kitten but one, and the mother is gone now. Not dead -- we're not sure what happened. But the one cat we kept stayed with us. I'd say it's hardly eight months old right now.

4501841 Funny thing is it's been an outside cat since birth. It can leave whenever it wants because it hung around its mother enough to gain some hunting experience and fin for itself. But it chooses to hang around the house anyways -- which is cool. All we got to do is feed it and clean out its litter box occasionally.
