November 2016 Update + 100 Follower Bonus · 8:03pm Nov 2nd, 2016
3 weeks shy of four years, and I've hit 100 followers on this site. I know many are inactive, but, for what it's worth, thanks for sticking with me through all of my lack of follow-through. I know I've disappointed all of you at least once when it comes to story announcements.
Let’s change that.
The following are story ideas in varying stages of completion. I’ve had a few of these for over three years, before I announced and subsequently scrapped them. To be honest, that seems pretty unfair to y’all, getting you hyped for stories that just don’t get released. Starting today, I’m going to fix that. Below are all of the incomplete story ideas I've started at some point in my time on the site. Without further ado:
Cluster W/The Mare and the Journey: Longform story idea. Adventure. Originally planned as a sequel to my first story, "The Division Bell." You can find the original prologue and first two chapters in my scraps collection. This story idea would follow the CMC in an effort to find the Mane Six. The Mare and the Journey was an attempt to reboot the idea, but I did not have the time nor motivation to complete it. It follows mainly Scootaloo trying to break out of a work camp to hunt down the Mane Six with ponies she meets along the way while still keeping with the world-building/adventurey fun stuff I had planned out.
Killing Spree: Short story idea. Horror, Dark, Gore. "When a filly is found brutally murdered one morning, Ponyville goes into a panic in an effort to catch the culprit." I made cover art for this ages ago that I only just recently found again. Would likely be rated M. The prologue exists.
But the Shells Curve: Oneshot idea. Slice of Life, Sad. "An old stallion enjoys a game on the beach and reminisces about the past." Introspective kinda piece that exists as a 1/3 complete rough draft.
Scentless: Oneshot idea. Horror. "Rarity starts hearing voices and attempts to make them stop." The rough draft was completed for Writeoff 19(!) back in October 2013, but needs major edits.
Applejack Learns to Play the Banjo: Oneshot idea. Random, Comedy. "Pinkie asks how Applejack learned to play the banjo. Applejack reveals all and definitely does not embellish the story at all." The first scene and a half was written almost three years ago, and it's kinda random, wacky comedy. You can read the original part I've written in my scraps collection.
Par for the Course: Short story/oneshot idea. Comedy, Slice of Life. "The Mane Six go golfing." The first 6000 words were written about two years ago and then... I stopped. For some reason. I need to rework a couple scenes for sure. I made cover art for this ages ago.
Wrong Book Roseluck: One shot idea. Comedy, Slice of Life. "When Roseluck accidentally causes her prize flowers to turn evil and reign terror over Ponyville, it's up to her and Spike to stop it." A truncated version was written for a Writeoff competition a couple years ago as a minific and so needs to be greatly expanded.
Antecessor: One shot idea. Dark, Slice of Life. "A mother protects her young." Originally written for the October 2014 Writeoff. It's currently too short for posting on the site, and there are some things I'd like to rework anyway.
Applejack and the Production Possibility Frontier: Short story idea. Slice of Life, Comedy. "Meet Applejack, Adjunct Professor of Economics at the University of Manehattan." Stopped writing this in late 2014 after the discovery of the user mylittleeconomy, who apparently has an excellent story on economics.
Havoc Mare/What Havoc Wrought: Longform idea. Adventure, Dark. "A supernatural being is terrorizing Equestria, and Twilight Sparkle is determined to stop it. Meanwhile, the country is thrown into a frenzy when Celestia and Luna vanish before their eyes, and the question of power comes knocking..." Y'all likely remember me hyping this up from earlier this year. Adventure stuff, political intrigue, etc.
Here's the deal. I want to write again. I want to publish something before the end of this year, but I need your input. After all, there's no point in showing y'all something you're not interested in.
Comment the titles of two short story/oneshot ideas I've listed above, plus either of the longform ideas bookending the list, that you would like to see on the site. I will do my best to post (or start to post) them before the end of the year.
I'll leave voting up until next week, at which point I'll start tackling these projects.
I do have a story I'll be putting out around Christmas (plus something for fourths), but I like these ideas and I don't want all of them to collect dust. Like I said, it's not fair that I hyped up these ideas for so long and did not follow through.
Comment away!

Applejack Learns The Banjo — Sounds just delightful to read.
Killing Spree — Sounds interesting, for sure. Kinda Hotline Miami-ish? Miami-y? Miamish?
and Havoc Mare — Was there ever any doubt?
(Also as a side note you should totes polish and publish the golf story since it's got so many words anyway... )
GOLF. Also economics is all nonsense. The long thing which is least dark.
