“By the great many armed Collie Ma, I am not shitting you,” Minori replied.
A diamond dog referencing Collie Ma...

Somehow, this slipped by. I has a sad. I thought for certain that with as many people reading, that there would be those aware of other cultures, faiths, and religions. Or would have at least watched an Indiana Jones movie.
I will go away now, disappointed and sad... **Sad Hulk on the highway music plays**
XD think it was the c ontex. diamond dogs are not what i would relate to mid asian mythology.
I noticed, I'm too much of an Indy fan to not notice.
It just seemed like a reference for the sake of a reference considering that the Dogs so far have been more Japanese, than Hindi-asian.

This.
"Mutt-leram, Mutt-leram, Mutt-leram Salukiam! Woof, woof!"
If it makes you feel better, I got the reference (Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom) when I saw the blogpost. So seeing as I don't read Venenum Iocus , I am sorry.

Okay, so we start with Hachiko and Minori who have obvious Japanese corollaries.
And then you post a picture of Kali, a Hindu Goddess.
While referencing Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. A movie that is about as offensively wrong about Kali as one can get without tie dying a fat man blue and making him dance around with a vacuum cleaner hose to his face dancing to Bollywood music.
Mixed messages bro.
I noticed, I just don't really comment often :P

I had figured she was throwing around as many things as possible to distract Tarnish.
I caught it! I was just reading it on my break and felt like I didn't have time to bring it up.

She practices Rinzai Zen, so that is exactly what she was doing.
My mind was hunting for Japanese culture references and peripherally associated things, and I skipped *right* over that without twigging.
I now feel like my mind is full of crystalberry donuts :)
Don't worry fella I got your reference. I am a hobbyist of various mythology and religion. I just refuse to comment on stories since my comments have ways of biting my hooka.
As your friendly neighborhood pagan pony I caught the reference and snickered a bit, the great and terrible Kali is wildly appropriate for a warrior culture though I was amost expecting someone more Shinto with all the Samurai ideals the adorably serious pup was talking about.
