The Best of All Possible Worlds: I Swear It's Not My Fault! · 7:48am Sep 10th, 2012

IC:

I'm sure everybody knows by now that all of the portals to Equestria have been closed.

I swear it's not my fault.

Well...not entirely my fault. Almost entirely the fault of one seriously crazy pony.

But, I suppose, I have to claim a teeny, tiny, extra-small, infinitesimal degree of blame.

I told the author about a certain request for information I had received from one of the surviving members of the House of Hohenzollern, the family that ruled Prussia before the fall of the monarchy.

It was not a character defamation lawsuit. I made that very clear.

She was just asking about her direct ancestor, and how she wanted to follow in her illustrious hoofsteps.

And the Anonymous Author just went nuts. She demanded to know who Voltaire's Prussian monarch was, as if she had forgotten or something.

"Why, Queen Genevieve I, of course," I replied.

I have never seen a unicorn teleport so fast.

Her last words to me were "time corruption!" What the heck is that supposed to mean?

So anyway: crazy pony. Crazy pony convinces Princess Celestia to close down the portals, to keep "time corruption" from "corrupting" Equestria.

Or maybe it was Princess Luna playing a prank on me. But not even I think she's that crazy.

In other news, is anybody able to access the chapters of this story set on Earth? I'm getting errors every time I try. I just need to compare them to my personal copy of the story. I've got this nagging feeling that I messed up somehow, but I can't seem to put a finger on exactly where...

...The coin was most unusual for what was depicted on its hidden face: the bust of a donkey, surrounded by the legend “GENOVEFA BORVSSORVM REG.” in the human script: Genevieve, Queen of Prussia....

But I did not know that Bavaria has a queen

^ possible translation of what you just said...

Ah Queen Genevieve 1... some of her reforms are still in place in today's germany! Like public hoofcare and putting Algorotti in jail! I don't know why the author is worried... then again I'm not sure what it means for a modern day citizen to follow in Genevieve's hoofstep... THAT could be worrying, she was fairly agressive.

Also, I can't remember who she ended up marrying... strange...

It's always been a mystery to me how an Equestrian donkey ended up occupying the Prussian throne. The fact that queen Genevieve's royal blood-line can be traced all the way back to Cherlemagne himself not withstanding, it does seem quite out of the ordinary when compared even to the histories of Prussia's own neighbors.

Modern genetics would also seem to indicate some sort of impossibility, seeing as how humans and every single Equestrian xenotype have vastly differing numbers of chromosome pairs. Still, one can never discount the mysterious benefits of Equestrian magic... although it does make me wonder how different European history would be if Prussia had had a long line of human nobility, rather than a donkey one. Perhaps Russia would not have been so quick to invade, or so successful in their invasion, during WWI. Heck, maybe Prussia and Germany would have merged to become one country by then, even! Who knows!?

I... seem to be getting a bit of a headache for some reason. Please do be so kind, Mr. McPoodle, as to send my regards to the anonymous author once again as soon as the portals reopen. I can't imagine they'd stay closed for long, if only due to our wide and diverse array of mass produced liqour. I recall my one earth pony friend who, upon stumbling across the alcohol aisle at a local Walmart while shopping for a new set of pots and pans, fell to her knees and cried tears of joy... the whole time mumbling something about "Not just cider." I'll have to ask her what she meant by that at some point, now that I think about it.

Also, do ask AA, on my behalf, how access to modern technology (basic as it is so far) has changed the Equestrian daily way of life, if at all. I haven't really been keeping track of the proposals by Google to make widespread Internet access and communication a reality over there, via their new fiber optic network... but it is Google. I imagine they've managed to get something going by now. I know I would be utterly lost if I didn't have the constant capacity to instantly access the wealth of all human knowledge at my fingertips 24/7 (and GPS... though that's a bit more literal). And it's amazing how many common issues and misunderstandings that form the basic plot of many a comedy flic are instantly made all but impossible by the introduction of a cell phone.

Anyway, sorry for the exceedingly long response, and do give her my best.

Sincerely,

Invictus

((Yeah, that was a bit of a derp on my part. Sorry 'bout that.))

Okay, wait, hold on, time out, something is Seriously Weird here. There's more going on here than just a simple magical retcon. TBoAPW is a historical account, which means that all of this stuff has already happened. Genevieve was Queen of Prussia 250 years ago; any potential 'time corruption' has been around for 250 years; and, if some infernal miracle should happen to remove Genevieve from the throne and give it to Friedrich instead, that will have already happened as well. I must congratulate McPoodle and our Anonymous Author for introducing me to a form of chronal instability even more brain-breaking than I had previously thought possible.

How you do dat?????:rainbowderp:

“GENOVEFA BORVSSORVM REX”

Regina; she's Queen, not King.

Fixed...sorta.

One hint as to how she did it
'Family heirloom' she used

And they got set up in the ever free as far as I can tell you other wise I wouldn't have been able to commandeer the computer from Grandpa and use it not to mention it is helping us greatly with our research
