I think today's episode drove it home quite nicely.
Hell, even the word of Faust has been tossed aside. If it's not clearly made so in an episode, it is not canon.
The heart was shattered. Did you see any Umbrum? Did Sombra rise from the ice? Yeah, I didn't see either of those either.
The comics are nothing but fanfics you pay to read. A shame though, I rather like the angle I made for the Umbrum and Sombra, but non-canon be it.
On the bright side, totally called the crystal heart having a significant use besides the umbrum, and that pony was eerily similar to Silver in his ability to understand magic far beyond his ability to use reasonably. I also called Starlight coming to live with Twilight ages ago. So yay on that, even if the Crystal Empire hook was dashed on the cold hard rocks of reality.
Yes, the two new episodes were very good. I Can't wait to see the next one.

3828655 I did notice this! It doesn't affect the Silver Verse much at all. I already proposed an entirely different reason why Celestia and Luna live for so long and are considered 'higher', and it wasn't a birthright.
The comics are canon until contradicted, according to Hasbro. So those particular comics were contradicted, and are not longer canon. It doesn't apply to all comics.
3828693 No comic has ever been confirmed by the show. Not a single one. This makes their 'weight' pathetically tiny, especially when the one time they did touch, it was the show crushing the comics.
Paid fanfics, that's all they are.

3828777 I don't have one yet but I plan to. The main protagonist is gonna be a Crystal Pony, so the new Lore abaut them is good to me, as while it doesn't interfare with anything - it helps in a few aspects.

That seems like a bit of a stretch. The comics weren't actually contradicted, especially if the siege of the crystal empire happened before the crystalling. The Princesses have put additional wards in place to keep evil things locked up before, after the primary one failed once and then was restored, and Sombra repented and wouldn't be a factor.
But in general, the comics are compatible with canon when they're written but the show writers don't give a shit and write whatever crazy things they want, even if it contradicts previous episodes of the show. That's how we get things like highlander Granny Smith.
Does this mean no more appearances by Under Rock the adorable abomination? Although by the end of the arc she was decidedly more adorable than abominable.

3832706 Oh, I agree completely. There's clearly no indication that any of the secondary sources - the comics, the novels, the art/info books - are canon at all. Heck, at this point even the tweets and interviews from the cast and crew are highly suspect at best (since they don't go through the rest of the production crew, nor get the greenlight from the intellectual property owners).
The only fully authoritative source for the show is the show itself (and sometimes it even contradicts itself).
(To be fair, Twilight's off-the-cuff mention of Pinkie handling the "Ponypalooza" in The Mane Attraction might be a reference to the "Pinkie Pie and the Rockin' Ponypalooza Party!" chapter book.)

You know, I never did like the idea of Alicorn status being given at birth rather than being attributed via merit, and now the two cases where EVERYONE considered that to be the case has been irrevocably stated to fit with those preferences. On the other hand, we now have ONE case that IS very much against those preferences, but between one of the parents being an Alicorn herself and the possibility of a pegacorn still being a thing, I think I'm okay with that.
