Depends what you feel like reading. A good dark detective-ish story ik of is school of hard knocks by hoopy mcgee. There's also evergreen heart and war machine. If u want a hilarious but extremely crude story look up the bad hero by lord evil. It's really funny if you like crude humor.
Also metal mists "the one with the heart" is very good but has extremely long chapters so it'd be a good time burner if ur board off your rocker.
this is a easy choice for me. kitsy-chan this author only has 3 story's as of right now all are vary good if I hade to give you one to read agene a easy choice. Five Score: A Velvet Nightfall.

I might read this just from the sheer fact that the description does nothing to help me understand what the heck is going on in that story, and I'm wondering what made it get it's high rating.
I'm assuming this is a mature story, because I can't find it.
I have this favourited, but I'm really reading any of the newer chapters. The shift from slice of life and comedy to adventure and dark isn't doing it for me. I really like the character chemistry between Sweetie and Sombra before the dangers of bad ponies were thrown in, especially when it started trying to explore Sombra's past.

Really? I thought...Alright, I'll admit, I haven't looked over that stories description in months. See, I don't remember anyone saying that about it, so I never change it, now I hear people avoid it because the description wasn't clear enough, RARGH.

I recommended it for the sheer fact that what there is is bloody hilarious. I've reread it 4 times only to hate myself 4 times because of the non-existent ending. Annoyingly, the author seems to still be alive, but unresponsive.

I'd recommend Bad Mondays. Dear God is it a long read at this point, but it is still one of my personal favorites, not only for the, (in my opinion), rather clever writing, but for the laughs it has gotten out of me so far. I dunno, but I think it is a pretty good fic from my point of view

I absolutely love Bad Mondays. I ate through that story within a week. It was like a challenge, and I accepted that challenge full-heartily.
I suggest diaries of a madman. It has the same tone, and a similar main character as bad Mondays. But it also expands on a lot more, at least when it comes to the main character, there's a lot more depth to him then handy I feel. However I do recognize that handyman is better when it comes to world building, and further developing side characters. But that might have to do with the diary format of doamm.
THE ONES FROM BEYOND is my top favorite story and honestly deserves more attention and popularity then what it currently has.
